Dropping your cellphone between the seats in a 370Z...

Have you or your passenger dropped a cellphone between the seat and center console?

IT'S THE WORST.

shaun66 12-17-2011 12:17 AM

Hate it.

cc370z 12-17-2011 12:54 AM

Yeah that sucks.... And our seats move forward sooooo slow!

jaedub 12-17-2011 01:46 AM

Yes, I had to move my seat to retrieve it and once I try to adjust the seat back.......it just doesnt seem right :shakes head:

mantella87 12-17-2011 01:49 AM

Yeah I hate when something falls out of my pockets. I thought it was bad in my RX-8, in this car I have to get out and bend my arm in unnatural ways.

nmjaxx9 12-17-2011 03:35 AM

Yeah def does suck. Looks like its time to invest in a phone mount. :tiphat:

USMCASA 12-17-2011 08:06 AM

happens too often but the only cure is to use a late '80s style cell phone

Lemers 12-17-2011 08:54 AM

Hate it, but at least we have Bluetooth and can still make and answer calls.

MB_Z 12-17-2011 08:58 AM

i call that the dark abyss down there. no way to get it back without moving your seats and in a base its the worst trying to find your driving position again and again and again

happytheman 12-17-2011 09:25 AM

Yup, I think we've all done it. I have to remove my watch to jam my hand under the seat. Otherwise I'm sure to scratch it. I've never had seats this low before! I'm not complaining...I think it's kinda funny! :)

Spikuh 12-17-2011 10:30 AM

Did this a couple times because I'm used to holding it in my lap. I just put mine in the cup holder now. It doubles as my change holder too.

gbrettin 12-17-2011 10:36 AM

Yeah...

I've actually freaked out about losing my cell one day. Come to find out the seat ate it. Mind you I spent 3hrs or so looking for it.

kenchan 12-17-2011 10:40 AM

happens to me when i wear non-cargo casual pants and accelerate pretty quick. so t-shirt and cargo pants is my official Z riding gear on the weekends. :D

It doesn't happen to me anymore, got the phone holder (ProClip) mounted on the driver's side pillar. The phone is right in front of you. Just put it on speaker and you're all set.

Nate23 12-17-2011 12:40 PM

Did it on my first drive home when I picked up my Z last week. Usually if that happened in my old car I could quickly grab it, but it's like the Z ate my damn phone! Had to wait until I got home to try find where it went. Cup-holder is now my cell phone holder after that...

Waiz 12-17-2011 12:49 PM

Dropping anything between the seat and the center console is usually a massive PITA to get out for me.

xipander 12-17-2011 12:53 PM

Before I even sit down the phone goes in the cup holder and the wallet goes in the cubby hole where the nav system would go (i've got a base)

TheGreatOne 12-17-2011 01:01 PM

the worst,

If I ever forget my Blackberry on the passenger seat instead of the cup holder, its bound to go between the seats on hard cornering (everyday driving for me lol)

There is no fumbling while driving...gotta get out, on your knees, move seat...pita for sure.

Waiz 12-17-2011 01:09 PM

I actually made a custom mount for my phone, it doesn't allow it to move and saves me from it flying out of the coin holder or the car entirely (almost happened :icon17:)

It won't really work the same for the Z34 but at least you guys might be able to find something that works for you:

It's velcro on both sides and the rear clips for this A/C vent mount were removed so it sits flush

Nismo89 12-17-2011 04:15 PM

dropping my cell between my seats is a very HPOF. (high pi$$ off factor) cuz then my hand must become an smaller than life mini action figure hoodini its way into the tight spaces and between seat coils exc.. lol. in the process injuring my hand by getting it caught

dpirch531 12-17-2011 04:40 PM

I dropped two quarters in between the seats and it's just at the right spot where i can't reach it with my hand or go underneath the seat to grab it! haha

KingZee 12-17-2011 04:46 PM

Thought this to be appropriate for this thread.

Look up Drop Stops. We've got them in all of our cars and they work great. You don't even see them. I've got certian coats where anything I put in the pockets falls out immediately when I sit in the car.

LakeShow 12-17-2011 05:29 PM

I've dropped my keys there one time and my cell a few times. What a P.I.T.A. Or when you get up and step out the car, the phone just slips out the pocket and falls on the floor.

Apoc370z 12-17-2011 06:17 PM

nothing beats dropping loose change between the seats.. i think i have a couple dollars below my seat now :shakes head:

Skeeterbop 12-17-2011 07:52 PM

I lost my wallet under there once. Couldn't find it for a day, had my cards cancelled, then the next day my phone fell under there and when I found my wallet there too I was a bit irritated. Now any time I can't find something that is the first place I check.

AlexRaymond19 12-17-2011 08:25 PM

I did this the first month of having my car, once was enough... I reached down under the seat to grab it and fished out like 3 old french fries, and i dont eat in my car... FML someone at the dealership was eating fries in my ride, awesome!

haitech 12-18-2011 09:38 PM

Try vacuuming dog hair out of those spots.

Red__Zed 12-18-2011 09:46 PM

ugh, so brutal when that happened. I did it EVERY TIME I left the gym...phone would slide right out of my basketball shorts

No way man. I bought my old beater pickup so that I'd never have to vacuum dog hair out of my Z.

slongholio 12-19-2011 12:10 AM

Yep done it. Have the window suction cup thingy now, so no more drops. Also, I have a transponder to get into the parking garage at work, on more than one occaision, have dropped it down between the steering wheel and dash. Sucks people honking the horn while I get out of the car to fish it out so I can get the gate to open.

TypeOne 12-19-2011 12:57 PM

I hate it too... more so because I have to mess up my seat adjustments to get it back!

Juruki 12-19-2011 01:06 PM

Yea when that happens i have to get my little girl to reach under and fetch my phone, cause its too tight for my hand and arm.

Red__Zed 12-19-2011 02:39 PM

Ugh, replying to this thread was bad luck. Dropped my phone under my mustang seat at lunch
