Looks like 2011 was the bad year based on the small sample here, even counting the one vote as an accident. id like to know if anything was changed to improve the issue.

No problems whatsoever. Get the manual. Even better if you get the Sport Package!

mantella87 12-10-2011 03:18 PM

2011 Manual here, no grinding whatsoever. Just hit 6k miles. 1st to 2nd shifts are usually notchy when cold, but no grinding.

zeddreaming 12-10-2011 06:39 PM

no grinding for me

kenchan 12-10-2011 06:52 PM

most cars are kinda stiff while new but shouldn't grind unless one really screws up the timing on the shifting or defective syncro's.

i think i read one or two with 2009's that had bad 5th or 6th syncro's.

*sigh*

Let the thread live please, mods. I can't help it that "there's always one..."

No car is good enough for you I think.

just voted, '10 with no issues. It's a bit clunky (normal though) when cold, but once warmed up, just fine. It's not the most buttery smooth 6mt ever, but it works just fine.

15K miles total with 6 track days in there to boot. FYI, will be switching out very soon to redline mt 85, not cause there's anything wrong, but just to improve/improve quality of the fluid in there since it sees a decent amount of track time every year.

IC, you should go to a dealership and test drive both again and honestly, either trans is very good, you won't go wrong with either unless you pick a manual but in your heart really wanted an auto or vice versa.

I've had both AT and MT 370's. The MT was more fun to drive the AT was faster (easier to hook up) at the track. So it's really up to you, if i had to do it all over i'd just get the nismo so MT it would be.

'11 here and loving it! Almost 4k miles - smooth shifting with stock shifter and tran fluid.

Dembflyr 12-11-2011 07:05 AM

I had 5th and 6th gear synchro issues at 6000 miles.

Transmission was changed and I've had no issues aside from the normal complaints with the 6sp.

I'm at 18000 miles and have been TT for 6000.

I am used to tremecs, so clunky and notchy is no big deal to me. I am just worried about the integrity of the product after reading this forum, which as I said already, has probably painted things in the worst possible light, as it seems over half of you have had problems with the m6 transmission.

Grinding is purely operator error on this end. Twice comes to mind on my 2009.

Trying to be as fast as the throttle blip that the syncro sports package offers, while turned off. Not a reason to not buy an automatic.

PapoZalsa 12-11-2011 01:26 PM

Grinding and bad syncros are reasons, but there could be a lot of others including the driver.

Red__Zed 12-11-2011 01:43 PM

wow, kind of surprised at the results
