Im 22 y/o but maybe i should wait until my Z is paid off to actually go drop more money down. lol auto loans have gotten the best of me this year. :owned: |
Keep the Z. The Evo doesn't sound like a good match if you're already complaining about the interior. The overall quality of the car doesn't touch the Z. SO happy I made the switch you have no idea.
|
Good idea! Should i test drive one for ***** and giggles
|
That's up to you...
You'll most likely enjoy the way it drives/handles - it's a fun car. But if you're anything like me, the boy-racer look, cheap build quality/interior, and HORRIBLE Mitsu service will get to you and you'll be wishing you had Nissan back in your corner. At least that was how I felt. The grass is always greener... |
Just took my stock sti rallying a few days ago with my brother as co-driver, have not had that much fun in a car in awhile. So in my opinion it really matters what you're going to do with the car. If you like outdoor activities that involve driving to the desert or snow (a lot), then an evo may be a good choice. But if you stick to street driving mainly then stick with the Z for sure.
|
Glad your driving the STI the way it should be driven!! ^
|
I think im going to test drive one 2mrw. 0_0
|
Just drive it. Different strokes for different folks so they say. I like both for different reasons. But honestly I'll be awd for life. Just more fun for me
|
So the Mitsubishi dealership was um...lets say not the greatest.... or up to date. And the service sucked, i was outside for 25 mins walking around no one came out to help. The dude when i called was like yeah your car is here waiting for you to test drive. Then when i got there.... They wouldn't even let me test drive one unless i qualified for the loan to own it? ??? OH yeah and not to mention, they sold the car yesterday, but told me to drive 45 miles to see them for it...but couldn't tell me it was sold.... I was like um...keeping my Z just b/c their service was shitty, i got a HUGE bad vibe from the experience.
|
And thats just the dealership. You don't even want to know what their service department is like. And if you have a warranty issue, forget about it...
|
/\ wow, that is terrible.
I can see the next nissan commercial. "some folks complain about our sales and service, but at least we're not as bad as Mitsubishi". |

They wanted me to quality for the loan (basically check my credit), which I denied them. Then I was leaving and they said every dealership I go to will do the same so I should just suck it up and let them run it....:icon14: I turn and look at the guy, right because I just test drove a Mustang/Z/BMW with them all magically getting my information. |
I had the EXACT same experience with a mitsubishi dealership when I tried to test drive an evo about a year ago. Found it funny that I needed to qualify for a loan before I could drive it, yet the local porsche dealership let me hop right in a new cayman and take off. Mitsubishi FOREVER lost a customer after pulling that crap. Why would someone want to take a credit hit by getting their credit run on a car they aren't even sure they will want??

So i left and my g/f went to my nissan dealer and got a pretty good deal on a 350z for her. I will keep my Z until i get another itch up my *** for more space and functionality, just sucks my studio monitors and keyboards wont fit in the Z. STAY AWAY FROM MITSUBISHI!!!! end of story. :shakes head: |
Lol they tried that sh1t with me the first time I went to look at one. They also tried insinuating that I couldn't afford one (I'm a younger looking 28yr old) when they said "you do know this car is like, $36k right?" I said yeah, and I've got $12k cash I was going to put down today. Not anymore though. Left and bought one from another dealership.

Going to stick with my Z for a while. :happydance: |
I know man, feels good to buy your own stuff. It was funny, the sales guy was probably around my age. I bet he was jealous he couldn't buy one himself.

the reason why they only allow test drives on approved loans is they dont want kids coming off the streets to test drive a car when they have no intentions in buying one. If you arent planning on buying the car, keep your *** out of it. I had no problems test driving a Evo MR when i was looking at buying one. Ended up getting the GSR cuz we all know manuals are better :P But ill agree, dealerships are full of ****. I'm currently banned from the one i bought my car from and apparently my manufactors warrenty is voided by them as well (even though they dont have the right to) but doesnt matter. I just orderd about $7000 in aftermarket parts including a new fuel system and bigger turbo...lol.

I'll try to keep this short as possible so its not so much of a thread jack.
After i finished test driving the evo and decided i wanted to trade my srt-10 ram in for it, i talked to the sales guy about why i wanted to trade the truck in. Told him a few reasons, one of them (but not the main reason) that the transmission was starting to slip in 2nd gear and i know it wont hold the shot of nitrous i had ready to spray. I got quoted just over $1300 to fix it by the dealership i bought the truck from $550 in parts (master rebuild kit) and the rest in labour. So i told the sales guy i wanted 3m tape on the whole front end (bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors) Deal went to finance...told the finance manager the same thing. While discussing that with her the sales manager took the truck for a test drive and i asked him if he felt the slippage...he said no, feels fine. Only reason i feel it is cuz i drove the truck every day, it wasnt bad but i knew it was there. Anyways the day came to pick the car up. First thing i noticed when i picked it up only the hood was done for the 3m tape. Look at the bill of sale and sure enough i was being charged $600-7000 for the full thing. Since it was late i waited to the next day to deal with it. Went back and told them whats wrong. I had the finance manager, sales manager and GM all saying the same thing "you are only entitled to the hood, nothing else, but to make you happy we will give you undercoating and paint protection for free" ($2000 value) i told them since i dont want undercoating since the city doesnt use salt in the winter so it wont be to bad under the car and i purchased a protection package against door dings and **** like that so i didnt want the other ****. After abour an hour of fighting with the GM and him finally giving up and saying "well we arent doing what you want, it costs us to much money" i got pissed off and said "i dont care what it costs you, you are charging me the full thing and only did 1 part of it" He stormed off and i said to the finance manager ill be back later with my lawyer....5mins later he came back and said they would do it. 3 days later i picked the car back up, checked it over and right away noticed major defects. front bumper wasnt cleaned prior to the tape being applied so bugs were under it, parts were bubbling and uneven cuts all over the place. Also he used a razor knife and ended up cutting the paint on the bumper. Here are some pics... http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...9/IMG_1758.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...9/IMG_1768.jpg So since i had an appointment across the street to get my windows tinted i decided to leave and come back later. While at the tint shop the guys there showed me the different material they use (alot better then the dealerships), also they go a few more inches higher on the hood and charge less then what the dealership charges. So i went back to the dealership, told them the issues and asked them if they would pay for the tint shop to redo the work and have the paint fixed. They denied it, said they would redo it under warrenty. I said to the manager "you guys are never touching my car again, you try and steal money from me, once i catch you and threaten you with a lawyer and do the work half assed and damaged my bumper" Also at this time they asked me if i knew about the damage to the transmission. I said yes and ask why. They said they sold the truck to another dealership and they got a bill for $8000 to fix it. Claimed they had the work order in hand. I asked to see it, was quickly denied. So i left and went to the dealership they sold the truck to. Talked to the service manager and techs that worked on the truck. Only work that was done was a safety inspection. They even showed me the work order...nothing done to the transmission and nothing sent to the mitsubishi dealership. So I made a claim with AMVIC (alberta motor vehical industry council). But they said if i went to them first when they first tried to steal the money from me, they could have did something, but since they did the work, they couldnt. And they cant do anything to the dealership because of poor craftsmenship. So i went back to the dealership and said ill take them to small claims court. Thats when everything went even more screwed up. The GM said he is going to sue me because apparently i didnt tell them about the damage to the transmission and its costing them $6000. I said "ok for one, i talked to the dealership and they deny working on the transmission and ever sending you anything. Second, i told you guys about the slippage and 3rd, you guys told me the other week it was $8000....now its $6000?" So he started back paddling saying theres damage to the rear diff. So every time i brought up them stealing money from me from the start he claimed "its how dealerships make money" then would go back to "me lieing about the damage to the truck" I asked where the truck was (i already knew it was sold at a auction 2 days before i went to the other dealership) he claimed it was back there. So i left and said to him "im surprised you are a gm, with the way things are ran here, im surprised no one has knocked you out before" Went down to the other dealership, they said "we just got a call from the mitsubishi dealership's gm, saying you threatend him and you are banned from their dealership any other dealership associated with the deal" So i left it at that since i was leaving for afghanistan in a few days. I'll be returning in a few months and ill be taking the mitsubishi dealership to small claims court so i can get my bumper fixed and get the 3m redone by the tint shop. Sorry for the long story but theres no way to make it shorter and i already left alot of bs out of it..lol. Quote:
Not in our city. Theres about a dozen evo owners in our group in my city, one is under 25 (think he is like 23-24), im 25 and the rest are between 25-30. |

wow dude, thats a fkn horror story. What a bunch of pricks. :shakes head: Thats so wrong to treat your customers like that. No one should be haggled and not only that but your in the armed forces. SMH. #Salute man! |
Gotta love the dealerships these days. Personally, I stay away unless I have dealt with them before or I know someone there..............

dispite the dealership ******* me over, i still love the car..lol. The dealership where the car came from wasnt any better. I explained to them that i was buying the car but they wouldnt let me test drive it. Wouldnt even let me look under the hood. They claimed it had a boost controller and they turned the turbo up to 45psi (yea right!) i had to ask another guy that didnt realise what was going on for the keys to look at it. Also they had rota rims on it for show but when they gave me the car they took the rims off cuz i didnt buy the car from them. |
i cannot stand dealerships. sorry to hear you had to put up with that BS man.
|
You didn't want those Rota's anuway. But that is some crap you had to deal with! BTW, you should be recieving a PM soon......
|
lol, thx, Yea i heard the rota's are crap, especially for racing. They looked sweet on the car. I'll find something lighter next year for racing, i just used up my extra money on a turbo upgrade and everything to go with it. Cant wait to get out of this place...lol.

my buddy has them, they are light as **** but i dont like the looks. I'm a picky person when it comes to rims though.
Also something i forgot to mention about all the bs, which is the funniest. About 1 month after i got into afghanistan i called my gf to see how things are going. The dealership called her the day prior, talking about pressing charges against me for vandilizing a few of their cars on the lot. My gf was like "ok what happend" the gm replied "well last night around 10pm we have your boyfriend on video, damaging 3 cars on our lots, we will be pressing charges" She replied "well im pretty damn sure it wasnt him" he asked how would she know and she said "because he has been in afghanistan for a month now" and she just hung up. I dont know whats more funny, the fact they are blaming me for that when im on the other side of the earth, or the fact someone else has a beef with them and smashed their cars up. |
what a joke! bunch of d-bags!
|
Wow wat fkn azzhls. He musta felt like a dumbazz when he heard you were out serving your country while he was out to get over on one of his countrymen. The irony of life. That's so sad.
|
yea i would love to see this video of me on their lot. As much as i would love to **** that dealership up, im not going to go AWOL, jump on a plane, fly 26 hours back to edmonton, **** the cars up, then fly 26 hours back here and get charged..lol.
Anyways back on topic. I know the evo has cheap interior, but its good in a way, it cuts down on the weight. Some people complain about the shifter in the GSR feeling notchy (i know mine did). Simple solution is switch to MT-85 fluid and buy this.... http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...10982304_n.jpg twm short throw shifter with leopard a6 shift knob + cage replacement and base, cable and underhood bushings. :happydance: |
I got my fluid , the shifter is on my list of wants... That and a CBRD turbo kit.
|
have you X guys seen the new stock frame turbos from MAP? i think they're putting down like 400+ on pump gas and minimal supporting mods...
|
pretty much any turbo can do that. FP just released a ball bearing version of the fp green, red and black turbos, which i orderd. Should be shipped in the next few weeks. But im going all out so i orderd....
BB FP Red (ported, oil feed line upgrade and 25psi wga) FIC 1100cc injectors Walbro 255lph fuel pump AEM Fuel pressure regulator kit AMS Cold Air Intake AMS Upper intercooler Pipe AMS lower intercooler pipe w/ TiAL QR bov ETS 4" intercooler Tomei Expreme Exhaust TWM Short throw shifter w/ cage, base, cable and underhood bushings Grimspeed 3 port boost solenoid Boomba racing catch can Perrin Rear Sway bar Perrin Rear Endlinks To go along with the AMS Downpipe, T1R Resinated Test Pipe that i already have on the car. Going to get tuned to 27psi, which should be between 410-440hp with full spool around 3600rpm, all on 91 pump gas...lol. The turbo can make alot more power but the block can only take so much. So im keeping the boost low until i build the engine, probably sometime in the next year or two. Havent decided if i want to stay 2.0L or go 2.2 or 2.3L. But first i gotta do my brakes and suspension. Damn coilovers cost more then the turbo..lol. |
The EVO X is a nice and fun car, but I swore never to do business with Mitsubishi back when I went into a Mitsubishi dealership trying to test drive an EVO 9. They belittled me, insulted me, and even yelled at me. Funny thing is that that dealership went out of business a few years back.
