Well, it's been a long day. Drove a total of 10 hours today but...... I came home with a 2010 Magnetic Black 370Z 6mt w/ Sport with only 3k miles on it. The paint has been slightly neglected (swirls everywhere), but I think it can be reversed. Everything else looks good - clean carfax, body is straight, no missing trim pieces/clips, under the car looks clean w/ no visible damage, interior is immaculate, engine bay is clean, and most importantly - she drives straight as an arrow :D
I'll get pics up ASAP. |

So what are your impressions? Like it? Regrets?
I've owned / own all these cars being discussed here and still do not know which was my favorite |

Compared to the Evo? It's obviously apples and oranges, but I'm happy I made the switch. Driving 80mph on the hwy doesn't shake the sh1t out of the car and rattle my brain lol. Interior is a huge upgrade. Power-wise, it seems about as fast as the Evo from a dig (stock), but top end definitely trumps the Evo. I have a feeling I'm going to love driving this on a daily basis. The suspension just feels so much more solid than the Evo. I feel like I just restated everything that has already been posted in this thread. I'm definitely happy I made the switch. The Evo is a fun car, just not what I want right now. At this point, my only regret is not buying the Z brand new 8 months ago :tiphat: |
I'd say keep the Evo for dd and tuning potential, get a Nismo Z to drive a sports car that has some style. Can't imagine the Z as sole method of transportation!

The best investment you can make on a VQ engine is a GTM TT setup. Had a chance to drive a TT 7at G37 which has the same engine and most components. I was blown away at how good power delivery was. These cars should have had an FI option from jump street. Get the gtm turbos. Once u have them. You won't need or care about the evo anymore.
|
Looks great! I would love to get a Raptor as well, but I would only use it for towing or any time I know I have to go off a paved surface.
|
That is one sexy 370z. Great job on the switch.
|
Thank you, I agree!
|
What would you guys do if you bought a low mile Z and didn't know how the previous owner treated it? I did a thorough visual inspection of the car, and I'm going to change the oil myself, but should I assume the car was beaten on during break in? Should I take it easy on her for a few thousand miles or just drive her hard right out of the gate? I'm positive the car was redlined during test drives... When I started the car up for a test drive, synchro rev was engaged and the salesperson had no clue why it would rev on its own (Subie dealership).
|
I would say assume nothing, SRM is always on unless you turn it off which most people drive with it on 100% of the time.
Change the oil, drop it by a trusted Nissan dealership and have it inspected and see what they say. They can also check service codes and history on the car from the OBD-II and VIN. |
Will do!

i didnt make i direct switch form Z to X.... i went from a 370Z to SRT-10 to EvoX and i couldnt be happier. Just orderd a **** load of parts for the evo, including a FP Red BB...expecting 430-450hp and mid/high 11's at the 1/4 mile and awesome spool time for the road courses. I'll agree the interior on the X is junk...pretty bad that i had to mod the glove box so it stops rattling. But i bought this car for track use...it is a DD but i can live with the cheap interior when it comes to dropping weight at the track.
|
Went from X 2 Z lol. Interior on the X sucks and paint is SUPER cheap. I did like my X a lot though, it was a good car to me as far as being reliable and you hardly ever saw another one on the road where I was.

Btw, if you have any leftover Z parts, I've got some X parts I could trade ;) |
All the parts i had for the Z are sold, except for the nitrous kit.
As for the X, i seen a group buy on the new ball bearing turbos so i said "why the **** not"...lol. Then the black friday sale came along and i saved some money on the twm sts with bushings and cage replacement, ets 4" intercooler and FIC 1100cc injectors. I'll order the rest of the parts when i get home in march |

Has anyone considered upgrading(or upgraded) from your 370z to a V8 engined Sports Sedan ?
I'm wondering if the VQ37 engine just isn't enough after a certain point and you wish for a larger engine. . . Something with Japanese reliability: Lexus IS-F (?) |
one nice thing about the Z is the big 19 gallon gas tank, I think the evo has a 12-13 gallon tank. Fewer visits to the gas station is always a good thing.
congrats on the purchase! |

Agreed on the bottomless pit. The Z is a mean, non-green, gas machine. But you'll never catch me in a Prius! |

There are days when I miss my Evo for sure but when I hop in my Z I kinda forget the missing. Just different cars.

The EVO X does so many things so well.... 4WD, Fast, 4Door for the family and is small for Gym parking spots. In my case, my wife and I have a Maxima four door (only $28K). It is fast enough for a family car. My folks (no kids) would have a fit if I was to race around with them in the car anyways. I have a 370Z S7 for a daily comute car and it's quite fast and gets resonable mileage. My wife drives the Maxima most of the time. We love our Nissans and have had many of them. They are high quality and comfortable vehicles. Unlike our GM / Toyota / Chrysler Vehicles. Our Ford Motorhome quality is unbelievable and with a V10 that sucker moves. For the weekend - The '03 Vette with a 6spd and few speed tricks is great. Or Supercharged Firebird with 6spd if I want to challenge the land speed record. However, with the big doors on those cars do not make it easy to park at the Gym. They like to pack us in and I always end up with a SUV that doesn't know how to park on each side of me. :shakes head: Not to mention I'm always on edge with such power in hand. In traffic, idle shift, idle shift. I can't even press down on the gas pedal really. For snow country or when it gets really wet around here there is the JEEP with the HEMI in it. ;-) It wouldn't make a very good track vehicle though. Still loads of fun! If I had a family / kids and only one car a Evo X would be a great all around car. Point is - Make sure that going to a Z you don't give up the flexibility you may have had with the EVO. However, coming from 350Z like me and going back to 370Z like I did. I can see your point. I LOVE MY Z's All seven that I've owned throughout the years. There is just something about a Z. Nice and tight, quick with good gas mileage to boot. It's hard to beat on the fun factor scale. Even with a S7 it's a blast !!! I love to hear the S7 do the downshift for you. It's better than the manual because you can do it really fast. People outside must think I'm Michael Schumacher (Stig) |

Prius- owned one ... Not so bad if you want to blend in. Black ones are nice if you buy some aftermarket wheels. I sold mine for a profit and got back into a Z. Saving the planet or gas is now a much lower priority for me. :icon17: |

That's one bad bleep mother-bleeping truck !!! :excited: |
^^ yes it is! and wow, how many vehicles do you own? you must have a stable to park those in haha ;)
i'm soooo happy with the Z right now. in the Evo, i felt like i had to be smashing the gas pedal 100% of the time. with the Z, I just cruuiiiiise :D |

How does the paint on the Z compare to that of the X?
|
I was just thinking about trading in my Z for the X MR. I want something with back seats, But can also get up and boogy....so i can actually go places with friends or pile up studio equipment into and go to a buddies house. But im really concerned about the reviews. The Z has given me ZERO problems, besides its non back seats and not enough room. Ive heard the engine in the X MR, is amazing super fast shifts and blast to drive, but interior sucks :(
|
It's not just the lack of quality parts in the interior of the sti/evo that I have a problem with, rather the feeling that you're driving a fast sedan instead of a dedicated sports car
