Order Wait a few weeks and then your car begin productions Build time is probably a week or to, remember there are inspections and other onsite requirements before it ships out. 2 weeks on a boat for shipping Customs is a week (was for mine) Prep in the states, either LA or Tenn Transit time Delivery to dealership The major wait period is the building as even though your order is placed it might be a few weeks before they even start your cars production, especially if the dealership just placed its order. Transit times vary because they wait for full loads before shipping, be on rail, 18 wheeler, etc. |

I'm really excited for brake ducts. Hopefully the cooler will just be an extension to the stock one to save money

The thing is, if you check out one of my original threads, this car basically got put on production hold this year due to the tsunami. Since the Z and the GTR are Nissan's lowest priority, they got shoved to the back burner. No dealer I know of in all of Southwest Ohio has gotten an actual Nissan car allocation since way back in March / April. No direct special orders (which not all dealers know about) were taken from Nissan in June or July while they were playing catch up from the shut down and the cars they lost. After calling Nissan distribution every week all summer, my dealer was finally able to special order my car in late August, when Nissan knew when 2012 production would start in September. So any other time I'd say you were absolutely correct. But the tsunami changed the normal way of things and it's only just now coming back around. If 2012's are delivering now, and they only started production in September, that's less than 2-3 months, that's 1 to 1-1/2 months, tops. I just like investigating. I'd also like to know if my car will be coming sooner due to some things going on in my life right now. This may sound crazy but sooner isn't going to make thing easier scheduling wise. Thanks again --- Bonzo |

Pics of OEM Nissan water-to-oil coolers from the Nissan Armada and the Nissan Murano. We are virtually guaranteed to get something like this, but I am still waiting on the official 2012 370Z oil cooler pics from the dealer.
|
Mods-Can we just get a sub-forum on the 2012 oil cooler? LOL

I'm getting the GTM oil cooler anyway but for those that were hoping for a nissan retrofit? Forget about. I think they are afraid that if they retrofit? They will have to warranty the product and don't want to. I see nissan going the toyota route with hybrids and the Z being electric and the END OF NISMO. The poser car of tomorrow. Lol. Anyway, get your Z's while they still have a name. |
By plumbing, they probably mean the coolant lines. I am pretty sure we can make it work, despite that. I seriously doubt that Nissan changed internal plumbing on the block to avoid retrofits.

Ladies and gentleman, below I give you... the 2012 Nissan 370Z OEM water-to-oil cooler. Sorry for the dark picture, but this is from a dealer who was nice enough to put a 2012 Z on the lift and snap the pic.

Repped for coming thru! |
Rep for snagging the picture. Does this look kind of cheesy though?

Thanks for the reps! It's the same solution they use on the majority of cars that need oil cooling so I guess we should not be surprised. I believe most of the larger vehicles in their fleet have similar items. I also did not want my oil running all around the place so I am glad to have another option to explore.
|
How well does it work now ? Lol
|
Our cooling system is pretty robust, thermostat opens at 180*F, cooling fans kick on at 212*F and off around 200*F, so the water temp control should contribute to cooling the oil some. Nothing like an aftermarket air cooling setup, but I doubt they would take the time to add it and not test to make sure it did something.

Repped for getting the pic. Wonder how well this will work and hoping it can be retrofitted easily. Hoping I can get this for cheap and hold off on getting an aftermarket oil cooler so I can at least get some track time.
|
I'll probably give it a shot (combined with my 19-row setrab + mocal thermo plate) as soon as I can verify the correct water plumbing and the part is available through Nissan parts depts.

Ignore the part number for the brake cooling parts, the guy misunderstood me and looked up the chassis brace kit (Nismo).

I tried searching for the oil cooler part # and it was giving me the Nismo oil cooler that is already available for ~$800.
