snycro rev extend clutch life?

[svt to 370z]

So I was driving home and took the sports mode off and was heel and toeing since i have not done it in a while in the z. I do it daily on my svt. So i was wondering, it only makes sence that the sports mode would extend the life of the clutch since you are not easing out the clutch as much when trying to find that happy mediium of rpms and clutch. does this make sence or no?

How? It promotes smoother shifting no doubt, especially downshifts, but the amount of slippage you need to properly shift doesn't feel any different to me.

If you shift poorly (require far too much slippage because you can't time upshifts correctly, or most likely when starting from a stop), SRM is not
going to change the fact that you shift poorly and put more wear on the clutch disc interface.

Like the OP I have another manual transmission car (have been driving them
all my life) and a blip of the throttle on the downshift is second nature: the time spent engaging/disengaging the clutch itself doesn't really vary.

It might reduce slippage trivially, and reduce wear as a result...but it will be a trivial difference.

that's because you still need practice. there should be no slip when downshifting.

I've never driven a car with SRM (well, besides my 7AT lol). I'm not sure what you mean by no slipping on downshift. Do you just pop the clutch once you move the shifter into the gate of the downshift? You don't ease it out at all under normal driving?

haha, yah, with AT you have no worries. i gently engage both up and downshifts but that doesn't mean it's slipping.

even with SRM, if im downshifting with mild braking i slightly tap the throttle to rev match even more.

Huh? Unless you just do a full on dump, you are always slipping the interface of the clutch disc: its just the Time(Delta) that it takes from dis-engaged to engaged that promotes wear.

Driven near 500K miles on manual transmission's in the last 20 years, and have only replaced a single disc due to surface wear (and that was because the 1.6 OEM Miata clutch doesn't take kindly to 12psi of boost...aftermarket solved that quickly). I think am ready for the big leagues with respect to my clutch skills
