No help from anyone here. Quite sad that most of us get clumped into that category. In a sense understandable but rather sad. Bust my tail to pay future grad school and work a job that can cover it all. I'm 22 turning 23 soon and moving past the Z, well, at least moving my invested money on to better things hopefully soon.

Just can't believe how young most who own a Z are....
Speak for yourself (or age group). There are plenty of adults over 40 that contributed to the financial situation of the country right now so being a certain age doesnt mean anything when it comes to financial responsibility.

Dont look past younger people that actually work hard and buy things the same way you do. I worked my way to what I have the same way as you do, lots has changed since you were 20.

We get tired of being branded with that "generation" speak and how our generation is worthless.

I don't think he was necessarily saying young people make bad financial decisions, but that most that young haven't had the time to build up enough money to buy a 30k+ car. You don't need to be financially irresponsible to not have enough for the car. There are obviously exceptions, but most people who are 20 prob haven't been working long enough to be able to afford it, not that they make bad decisions or anything.

The Financial of the situation of the country right now pretty much has nothing to do with people buying sports cars. People taking on loans, and paying them off is good for the economy.

When I was 21 years old, I bought a 30k maxima new, and paid off the loan over the course of around 5 years. My priority was to purchase a new car, and I lived at home with my parents at the time... I was enabled to do so. It's nice if your young and can afford what you want, as you get older things change, for instance when you are ready to get married a sports car becomes far less important then purchasing a new home becomes more important. Won't be so easy to splurge on limited income.

Most of the younger guys that have a brand new 35k+ vehicle probably have well off parents, or a similar situation that I had (a decent job, and limited financial responsibility) or maybe they play ball or sell drugs? LOL. Anything is possible. Not many 20 year old guys are pulling 6 figures and have the means, unless they graduated med school @14 like Doogie Houser or something.

I'm one of the "how was I able to afford all this?" group, bought my Titan when I was 23 and in grad school. How I managed to make all my payments continues to boggle me but once I finshed (3 years later!), I landed a good engineering job at the lazy B and, combined with sharing rent with my GF at the time, managed to pay the T off when I was 27. Turns out I couldn't get used to not having a car payment so 2 years later, bought the Z instead of putting a 35K-ish dent in all the student loans. Insurance ain't too bad, 950 for 6 months for full coverage on both, spotless record. Turning 31 soon, can't wait to buy my own booze...oh wait....holy crap, has it been 10 years already???!?!

Yeah they do or mommy n papi bought it for them, your story sounds a like like mine I got my home at 23 and the same yr i got my car. I have a 04 GMC envoy for the winter, and also my credit is bad ##%{#] =)) so I have no problem getting stuff on credit plus I paid in half for the car so nothing to worry =)) good finance.
yeah house first then nice car is the way to go. I have two renters that live with me in my house too so I'm actually making money on my house and essentially living in it for free.

I just wanna point out, this is just how i think, the reason you can't understand why Kids between 20-29 can afford these cars is because the Z community is the most responsible one especially on this site as far as i have seen in my few weeks here, now back to young'n owning these car's the car is expensive for your average 20-30 y.o but if you search and really want the car you will make damn sure you find a job you know you can afford the car even if you don't enjoy your job, just because you love the Z. Me myself am in the middle of all of this, i was quoted at $270/month at 21 years old i have an Altima now 2009 and i pay $250/month so not much of a jump

this is just IMO...love this site lol

I got mine when I was 20 and I thought my insurance rates would be exorbitant. Luckily The Hartford gave me a good student discount, airbag and anti-theft device installation discounts as well as defensive driver’s credits, all of which considerably cut my costs. I think the key is to find car insurance companies that will work with you to find a way around the high rates young drivers pay.

I bought my '10 370z when I was 25. I could have bought a 350z when I was 21 but I was in the middle of a lease that wouldn't have been easy to get out of. In the end I am glad I didn't as I was able to save up more and bought a house before I got my 370z. I am also glad that waiting got me the 370z over the 350z as its greatly improved IMHO (My dad has a 350z which I have driven many a time).
