Are you looking to trade your car in and get something close to the price of the trade?

Thanks for all the info guys....I currently own my Z outright so I may try to sell privately before getting raped on a trade...I've narrowed it down to the EVO ...STi and possibly a 335. Gonna start going for test test drives...ill keep u guys posted

Just my opinion, but the EVO would be the winner for me. That is, unless you want luxury interior then the 335.

I think 335i with red leather seats is so cool!!!

Pushing_Tin 09-16-2011 12:55 PM

Given the choice between those two I'd take the 335 as a DD any day. If you want more of a track oriented car the Evo for sure.

ct63084 09-16-2011 01:24 PM

Correcting what I said below, It seems 335's built before Dec 2009 is for sure to have forged internals, anything after that no one knows. Also early cars have bolted diffs, which make a LSD swap much easier.

If you want to track the car i would get the evo over the sti and 335. STI's dont respond well to mods compare to the evo, you would also need to upgrade the block sooner than the evo x. The 335 is expensive once you break something. The 4b11t is good for at least 400 wtq, has good aftermarket support.

Get a 335 good balance between comfort, performance and looks the coupe looks sexy. If you want to go balls out on performance mod get the n54 335i as they have more potential than the n55 single turbo, this is not officially confirmed but one of the guys in e90post opened up the n54 and it had forge internals. 135 is nice but too small.

I hear the sedan gets better numbers than the coupe. Go figure. I love the coupe bodystyle though, but the sedan is a formidable option.

Congrats on the purchase, however an F.I. Z blows the doors off any BMW short of the new m5 and maybe the m6. Also in the long run I think it will be cheaper to get huge power out of an F.I. Z than a 135 but hey now we get to find out in time don't we :). Nonetheless bmw does have a certain level of luxury that the Z lacks. I hope you won't turn your back on us Z guys now that you got the 135.

Umm, what kind/level of luxury are we talking about?

Red370 09-21-2011 04:08 AM

just wanted to throw this out there, the BMW thumpers at least, can they make power? yep. Cheap? hell no. I was talking to a coworker yesterday (335 owner) who said that an exhaust/tune from Vishnu is $3000, and that barely gets you over 400whp, of course I didnt believe him, then I came across this. Jesus Christ.

Vishnu Performance Systems

it seems that bang/buck, best is either a strong V8 with gobs of power to start with or a turbo 4-banger (which will still cost a shit ton to make 400whp/tq).

For around $3-4K an SRT-4 neon makes enough power to run 11's. Don't think it has a ton of tq, though.

Yeah, but look at the product you are getting. It doesn't hiss, or rasp, or drone, and I am betting that it installs like it was OEM. I've seen enough whining about all of the above on this and other forums and done enough myself when I had a mustang to understand that performance AND quality DOES tend to cost.
