for less than $1000, we do 11's

please for the love of god dont make me hunt down the threads over on svt...

annnnd, for 1k more than the cost of that tuner/exhaust, I can buy a procharger tuner kit and make 550whp+, seems like a waste of money to me.

I was talking to a coworker yesterday (335 owner) who said that an exhaust/tune from Vishnu is $3000, and that barely gets you over 400whp, of course I didnt believe him, then I came across this. Jesus Christ.

Vishnu Performance Systems

well that's great that you chose to mention the absolutely least productive and most expensive mod for a 335 in terms of power. The car comes with a 2.5" cat back. Most of these expensive exhaust systems just sound different, while providing relatively minimal gains.

The biggest gains come from a front mount intercooler and a tune, then downpipes. Power is cheap on the 335 to a certain point. Getting to the 375-400whp mark can be done for under 3k. Getting above that is quite expensive and requires bigger turbos.

car comes with 302hp/295tq at the crank (about 256whp/250wtq). With a FMIC and a tune (about 1500 bucks) you are at about 340-350 whp with similar torque. So thats about a 100hp gain for 1500 bucks? Wow that's expensive power

Saying that you can't make power inexpensively on a 335 based on the price of an exhaust and tune is like saying that the mustang doesn't make power inexpensively if you decided to buy a wing and a body kit and wondered why the car didn't go any faster after you spent 3-4k on body work, when obviously the simplest power on the 5.0 is intake/tune and you are over 400whp. An exhaust on a 335 has very minimal performance gains, its really more for sound and look. So i wouldn't base your judgements on how the 335 is as far as 'bang for the buck' performance gains based on one co worker who simply bought the wrong mods if he was expecting performance gains.

That being said, however, the 5.0 seems to be one of the best bang-for the buck cars as far as power mods are concerned.

But at the same time we aren't driving BMWs.

335 might not be as fast out of the box, and might not be as mod friendly as a 5.0, but a 5.0 isn't nearly as luxurious as a 335 either. It's a totally different car.

In a 4-cylinder? I was talking about a 4 cylinder...

As to comparing a mustang to a BMW, I might as well compare a 'vette to a mustang. Totally different vehicle.

Given your choices, I'd go with a 335i with the M package. All you need is a chip and you're good to go.

I am starting to think about trading the Z in for an ISF...

the ISF is over priced, over hyped, and has too many gears. i can name like 20 performance cars that are better and less expensive.

^^this.

i love the look of the isf but will be the first too agree that it is dramatically overpriced for the mediocre performance. not to mention an 8 speed... really... waaay too much shifting

dont forget m5's, anything merc with an amg badge, etc....

Endgame 09-22-2011 02:40 PM

Had a feeling you may say those. I am not too hot on German cars. I like them, but do not want to own one. I like Japanese cars MUCH better. CTS-V... hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I may consider that since I have a hook up at GM....

So far though, ISF is still in first place.

Similar performance to a mustang 5.0 and double the price... whatever floats your boat
