sorry man.

i know that lot well, it sure doesn't seem like a place that should flood.

keep us posted.

That really sucks, but it's why you pay insurance. Now you can get another Z, and if there was ANYTHING you learned from owning this one ("I hate XXXX color interior because it marks easier when I drag my shoe across the door-sill" or any other quirky nonsense you couldn't know without owning the car) you can now correct that on this second one!

370zproject 09-09-2011 06:43 AM

now you can buy a gtr with the damage money?

that suck good luck stay safe !

Disagree.

I had a guy ram my car at a gas station while I was pumping gas and he fully admitted to 100% blame to his agent at Progressive and they told him to go pound sand, it was on private property (gas-station) and they were liable for $0.

Progressive is a BS company that people who can't afford/don't care for real insurance go to because they are cheap (or because they are genuinely ignorant about the company). That's my opinion based on experience and not a damn thing will change my mind about them or their clients.

Yep, or like I tell everyone here who posts if they should get a fartcan or an intake first? to get the thing wrapped instead if they care at all about resale or the looks of their front-end paint.

Then I need a 3rd go at it!

My base model + sport had better cloth seats than these freakin red "leather" seats. I can't get black marks out of them.

Yep, there are ALWAYS things that you learn when you actually own a car that would cause you to change your opinion on what you want for the next one. Same for a gun, golf-club, or any other item that you use in a 1:1 manner like that where little differences cause huge impact on the experience or performance.

I'd personally be happy if any of my cars I had ever owned were a total loss that was not credited to me, because there are all manner of LITTLE things I would change on the 2nd or 3rd go around.

If you ever get the chance to read the reviews for their insurance do it but you cannot be logged in you must visit their page as a visitor to read the bad comments, there is one horror story that the guy has been without his car for over a year and they wont deny the claim but just choose to drag it out so he cant appeal and they try to make it look like they are doing their do diligenance.

I haven't had accidents except for the flooding and comprehensive stuff like windshield. But my old lady had about 4 accidents, NOT her fault.

zeddreaming 09-10-2011 12:04 AM

talk to a lawyer if you cant get anywhere. This is a huge amount of money and you should get their opinion.

kayess 09-10-2011 12:33 AM

On Monday they asked me to faxed the one proof of a page i have, there is a high chance they aren't going to cover it. I will be pursuing with a lawyer right after if they deny.

I do have a backup plan if all this fails on me, but lets see what happens....

Cyberium 09-10-2011 01:35 AM

I don't know guys... I have Progressive with a loan out on my car and I take if off insurance during the winter time and they never question me. So anything is possible I suppose.

Jamaica 09-10-2011 02:30 AM

Wow that sucks. Wish you the best

LunaZ 09-10-2011 07:47 PM

Those pics make me sick to my stomach.

JC671 09-10-2011 08:41 PM

wow......

Godspeed man... That's a terrible feeling. I hope it works out for you in the end. Just come to terms with the car being done. Your focus now should be making sure you get compensated for it.

Gauge 09-10-2011 10:42 PM

This is just criminal. Insurance companies, especially ones as large as progressive, are terrible with stuff like this. Horror stories like this are all abound.

Take their asses to court, judges hate these insurance moguls because they are constantly trying to get over on the consumer.

This is why I have state farm. They have always gone above and beyond for me, they never even ask questions when I call them, they just say "I'm so sorry sir, we will take care of everything", and then they do.

I say take em to court and sue for emotional damages for the stress induced by them refusing to pay for the car. Your car was just ruined, the last thing you need is your insurance company dumping you.

kayess 09-10-2011 10:43 PM

Yeah im trying, my one page of proof isn't doing me much good, according to the insurance company all my policies show no full coverage, yet they still haven't been able to answered why my print out from May shows full coverage.

Im trying to dig through more paperwork for court supporting documents.

Once this is over, first thing im doing is changing my insurance company...i hope they lose their customers for this monopoly they are playing with peoples hard earned money..>:/

Skeeterbop 09-10-2011 11:47 PM

Sorry about what happened to the Z and what the insurance company is doing to you. I'm going to make a few copies of my insurance policy now. Going to have one at the house, one in a safe deposit box and an electronic copy.

Skeeterbop 09-10-2011 11:52 PM

oh and atleast on my policy it shows flood damage being covered by collision of all things.

If you show them you are lawyering up, they will definitely get their butts in gear very quickly. It is probably an administrative mistake that you don't show up as comprehensive/full insurance, but that does not make it any better.

When you show them you are serious (insert lawyer), most of these companies will settle BEFORE you actually sue them.

mjg 09-11-2011 12:41 AM

I feel your pain man. I loved my car, all 6 weeks of it... only to have a tree fall on it in during a disaster that wound up causing 7 cars to exploded (and electrify an entire condo parking lot). I got really lucky, and my car escaped with minor damage.

Hopefully you can get the car totaled, and receive a new car you can love again. Best of luck bro,

KillerBee370 09-11-2011 01:01 AM

So who's the assh*le early bird in the blue Volvo? Lol

But seriously, I would be heartbroken to find my car under water!

kayess 09-12-2011 06:06 AM

Just sent an email to the insurance rep asking for their fax number and told them i forwarded the information to my lawyer as well. Lets see if this makes a difference.

**I checked out the car yesterday, most of the car is dried out, carpet is still wet thou. Does anyone know how to open the trunk without power?**

Back up a sec...

On my auto insurance policy, the first page is the declaration page. It clearly defines what the policy is, what the limits are, and what it covered. There's no fine print about it. They send me a new one every 6 months. Proving "comprehensive" or "other than collision" coverage is a simple matter. The company has a record of it, I have a record of it. Damage due to fire/theft/flood is not in the "fine print", it's in the coverage description in big bold letters under the heading "Comprehensive Coverage - What is covered". This isn't a case of Progressive trying to get out of coverage by "redefining" what is covered, it's a matter of whether the OP actually bought the coverage.

It's true that most finance companies/banks, and leasing companies require some sort of comprehensive coverage, but not all do, and they don't always check, and if they do they often miss stuff like that.

Everybody wants to jump on the insurance company here. I'm no big fan either and I'm very sympathetic to the OP's loss, but his difficulty in coming up with proof of comprehensive coverage is telling. Most current declaration page. It's all he needs. Or all they need.

No financial institution will let you go without FULL COVERAGE insurance on your car. So in this case must be a big misunderstanding in paperwork by somebody.

All financial institution will check your insurance coverage and will let the owner know if he is not in compliance with the terms of FULL COVERAGE, becasue it happened to me before and I had to call the insurance company for them to fix there mistake.
