shift knobs

Hey guys so I was looking into nismo shift knobs at the nissan website. However I am so confused, what are these "open-o" and "closed-o" mean?

Plus anyone got these installed?
Installation hard?
Also anyone know a good place to get some nismo parts?

I performed a search and was not immediately able to discern what the diff between open and closed o design was.

I have the Nismo Titanium knob installed. Nice knob if you tend to shift like you're gripping a joystick.

Check the DIY section for details on removing the stock knob. It's a bit of a PIA due to the loctite that Nissan used on the threads.

The difference between "Open" and "Closed" O design is whether or not the O in Nismo is filled in like a circle or if it looks like a 'normal' O with an empty space in the middle.

I believe "Closed" O is the circle and "Open" O is the one with the empty space but I'm not entirely sure.

No difference at all. The difference they are talking about is FONT printed on the knob for the logo. Nothing mechanical

I gotta be honest with ya...this thing gets pretty hot! Simple solution: Carry a clean microfiber cloth and small bottle of QD in your Z to aid in bird poo removal. When you get out of the Z, place the cloth on the shifter. No worries!

Only reason why I havent gotten a shift knob...
The place that i currently live avg 100+ degrees...
Knowing that its a metal shift knob, it would be quite dangerous...
lol...
but i guess that clothes solves the problem...

yeah. any metal shift knob gets really hot. i usually just put a hat over it and the problem is solved.

I've been through 3 different knobs and came back to the OEM. The Nismo was a nicely constructed piece but it's slender body just hurt my hand as I grip knobs from the top (especially at track under hard shifting ugh). I actually have another that I prefer the feel and weight of (Conrero) but it has that ridiculous "universal" design that requires those three little allen screws going into that nylon sleeve that ALWAYS comes loose and drives me bonkers.
Oh well... at least this way when a valet hops in my car (rare) he doesn't spend a half hour figuring out where reverse is.
