What I find AMAZING is that it took the a 1/2 hr to determine nothing was in your car.... A five minute sweep shoulda covered it ad nauseum!:ugh2:

dnasty370z 07-27-2011 07:53 PM

yeah I know I think they just where taking their time to really try and find something(I guess I must look like a criminal or something?) and at the same time mess with me cause I kept telling them they where wasting their time looking and that I had to be at work at 8 If we could go our separate ways already

My point is that some cops (it could be just in my area) would pull you over for passing them regardless of whether or not you're still within the legal limit. That's why I just think its not worth the hassle. No disrespect to cops, but there are a handful of them that are on a power trip, and get a kick out of breaking balls.

maybe it's different in Canada, but here in the USA you *always* have the right to request a supervisor present. If a cop ever pulled me over for going the speed limit, I would ask why he pulled me over - if he claimed I was speeding or doing something I was not doing, I would politely demand a supervisor come out to the location.

Don't lose your cool, don't be a jerk and don't mouth off - but don't bitch out and let them walk all over your rights. Most cops are just regular guys doing a job - but just like you ask for a manager if you get crappy service at a restaurant, you do the same when you get crappy service from a LEO.

They didn't even ask me! but Honestly because I did not want to go to jail for something stupid I knew just by the way these guys where acting If I where to try and stop them I'd probably get shot or taser'd these cops where fishing I could clearly tell but honestly It's not worth the mission and as far as filing a report I would love to but I did not get any badge numbers I guess cause I was too tired to even really take in the hole situation till after it happened here when you get pulled over you need to be very careful the way you speak to police officers because they are very quick to pin something on you like resisting arrest or obstruction of justice that is just the way they are...its very easy to tell tell they have a us(officers) against them(citizens) mentality It really sucks but there is really nothing you can do in that position but say yes officer. For example my brother was once arrested because he got pulled over for no reason and he was with his wife the officer began flirting with his wife and my brother did not take kindly to that so he let the officer know "if your gonna write me a ticket write it but dont sit here bash my car(crappy 96 carolla at the time) and try to flirt with my wife she is clearly not interested in you and that led to his arrest for"obstruction of justice" plus a bit of a ruff up on the way to the squad car. He fought it but lost bummer huh?

You're going about it all the wrong way... cops don't get into the job for the opportunity to harass honest citizens... if they do, they won't last long because enough complaints will get filed for them to lose their job.

Be polite and respectful but if they ask to search your car, just ask "am I required to let you search?" - and if you feel they are trying to browbeat you into giving in, just request a supervisor.

I guess If this happens to me again I will request a supervisor I just hate when this happens im kind of used to it over here that's why I try to not give any lip and stick to yes or no responses. But im not gonna lie I just wish I never come across this situation again cause I understand alot of them are just guys doing their jobs but for some reason all of the cops I have ran into have had some kind of point to prove and IDK why Cause i am very compliant with them my father is a law enforcement officer a federal agent at that so I respect what they do I just wish they would give some back you get me?after all I am a productive citizen in society I work full time and I am also a full time student whats the beef?? I'm no criminal by any means lol

Actually a lot of cops are ******** who enjoy harassing citizens. Just read the story above about the guy arrested for protecting his wife from a horny jerk. And when was the last time a cop was fired for citizen complaints? Maybe its time for an Egypt-style revolution, coupled with a massive pigroast or something.

I'm in Toronto too. The thing is that even if they don't have probable cause, and they want to give you a hard time, you still have to show up and fight it which is a pain in the a**, and a huge waste of time. You'll end up spending way more time trying to get rid of the charge than the time you would have saved if you got away with going faster lol

If they don't have probable cause, you can file a complaint and follow up on it. After what those thugs did to citizens in the G20 last year you'd think they'd learn to act like decent human beings for a change after the negative PR they got.

murphman 07-28-2011 05:04 PM

no cop is getting into my car to search for no reason. They can get a search warrant and we can both stand there all day long till it gets there. Then i will follow up with a harassment complaint.

I live in California. California is going broke. Passing is like instant ticket. I'd rather pull over for a snack break and then get on the road.

I have a feeling they must have asked and you might inadvertently indicated your acceptance (such as 'sure you can look I have nothing to hide!)... I only say that is because even if they found your stash of uncut cocaine, they performed an illegal search and the evidence should be dismissed. Or they'd be in a 'he said she said' about the illegal search.

Cops are pros. Or, you look REALLY suspicious and you should shave your beard.

Yeah, I lived there for many years, (went to HS and college there) and they tax the living sh!t out of you for every little thing they can. Their LEOs are grossly overpaid (IMO of course, refering specifically to NOVA), and theire emmissions laws are draconian. I'm SO glad I don't live there anymore.

Oh, and NOVA is so ******* overcrowded it's not even funny.

m4a1mustang 07-28-2011 11:18 PM

Yeah but there is a lot of good in NOVA... lots of business... lots of money. Not a bad place to live as long as you're making good money and can really afford to live here. The cops aren't really that overpaid for an area like this, IMO. Officers start at around $48k and it requires a 4 year degree of some sort.
