Ya Jville is a whole other animal. I've gone to CPD twice, saw 2 Z owners but just got the stink eye the whole time I was there. When I was parked and had the hood up to cool the engine off a couple people walked by and looked around and they seemed pretty excited to see my car in person. My buddies on the fence said they could hear people asking what kind of car is that. True but remember the first stepping stone to any relationship with car or woman is physical attraction.

Older Z guys are cool
People that drive older Zs are cool (280/300/ect)
350Z owners are douches
370Z owners are cool

That's just from experience... I guess it doesn't apply to everyone.

New member here coming over from the G37 forum. :tiphat:

Not only will you see a change in the demographics of the 370 owners on the street, eventually the demographic of the members on the board will change. Radically.

Happened on the G37 board about two years after the car's introduction. What went from educated discussions on modifications and meets turned into a ricer's convention of insults and third grade behavior. Definitely not from the vast majority of the members there, but the board noticably changed. I bet the median age plummeted too. Blame the used car market.

I'm old (53), and had the use of my uncle's 1977 280Z a lot when I was in college. Back then, ALL Z owners either waved or flashed their headlights at each other. Those days are probably long gone. Most people are too consumed playing with their phones.

Face it, you are part of a small minority of the general public who is truly passionate about your car. To most people, it's an appliance, even Z's. Explains bad parking edicate (great thread BTW!), and mostly pathetic driving these days.

You guys are great. Don't lose your passion.

I plan on buying a 2012 Touring Sport Package w Nav (Gun Metal or Black Cherry) sometime next spring once the production lines get cranking again. I hope you guys can keep the faith until then.

Do you really need someone to wave at you to validate your car choice?

We've already taken on the extreme fanboyism of my350 circa 04-05. I figure we are 6-12 months from being assimilated.

I agree with the other cars as well. I get props from Evo's and Subbies all the time.

It seems like i get the most respect and props from volkswagon guys around here. I've even had them pull a u-turn in the middle of the road to come up next to me to say ''nice car''

i start seeing a lot more Zs on the road recently.
there were only 2 Zs in my area back in late 2009..

they really have a lot of time on their hands...

shadoquad 07-20-2011 02:31 PM

I think people read too much into this stuff. I skipped reading most of this thread.

I give Z waves all the time, but I occasionally forget or don't see until they're too late. I wonder if those Z owners think, "Guy didn't wave, wat a dewsh".

I've seen nothing but Z love with most enthusiastic Z owners. Go to a big meet like Zdayz, ZCon, or ZNationals, and you'll see what I mean.

You're also always going to have a crowd of Z owners who could care less. Or maybe they just don't wave to other drivers. Or maybe they're driving someone else's car.

I don't stress over it. When you get an approving nod or a wave back, it feels good.

christian370z 07-20-2011 02:43 PM

^Agreed for the most part, however there are still cases where I clearly see that a 350z driver will be driving alongside me and will look over with a disapproving look and drive away. I've seen some cool 370z drivers though, I impromptu caravaned from Malibu to Newport on the 405 with one 370z and the owner waved.

I try my best to wave or acknowledge Zs of all kinds if I see them on the road, but unfortunately you can't always expect anything in return.

I think age group has alot to do with it. I will get a wave from a middle aged guy in a Z..but the ones who are 19 and pay the $10,000 for the 350z with 100+k miles on it..tend to exhibit exquisite douche-baggary.

Just from being on here like all day. Have my phone with me all day so I will post a lot when I have down time at work or school. A lot of my posts are in the OG Conference rooms (usually 1k+ posts per month) and in the popped thread. Also had a bunch of posts in Word Association, but I got tired of that thread and gave it up.
