Correct, the estimator from the insurance and/or bodyshop will determine the amount of damage and if it is total loss.

The insurances company has a formula that is the amount of the damage against the current value of the car... that will determine if is total loss or not.

However I would not want my car fix after that type of damage.

Well it is a sport car and the insurance will be higher depending of many factor...the % of accident will definetely be one of those factors.

About 45ish. However, the road was really slick (It's been raining HARD the last 7-10 days here in Florida. It was really a shock that the car lost control, I wasn't driving crazy by any means. I really am
hoping they will total it. I read online that I may be able to buy the car back from Geico at a small price. I'm thinking that may be the thing to do as I could part out wheels, seats, etc. Adjuster is looking at it Wednesday post-teardown so we'll see.

USMCASA 07-01-2011 04:02 PM

what kind of tires did you have on it and what did the tread look like?

mspaun3 07-01-2011 04:13 PM

Potenzas. Not the stock ones, though. Plenty of tread left.

So glad to hear that you are ok...but sad to say your Z def looks totaled. I agree with what the other posters re: not wanting the car back if it is not totaled.

Some 12 yrs ago my Mazda MX3 had a large tree dropped then dragged across the length of it completely crushing the cabin. I figured it for totaled, but Progressive said "Let's see what we can do about getting you back in your car"! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The dude was all like "oh yeah, you won't believe what they can do with these cars today". I told him I didn't want it back...but it did not matter.:ugh2:

same thing happened with me in my 350..only the pole was a semi. Looks a little less damaged than mine but mine was totaled..I bet yours is totaled also.

Agree that it's at least $18k if not higher. Really depends on what she looks like under the hood (engine damage, suspension, and frame). Your car is probably valued around $29-33k and you need 70-80% in damage to have it totalled. You need ~$25k in damage for a totalled decision.

JayYoon 07-02-2011 02:37 AM

get all the stock parts and then... gl

gr8-wrx 07-02-2011 07:56 AM

Ouch! Glad to hear you're okay. That's a lot of damage!

Glokwork 07-02-2011 02:00 PM

Wow very sorry to hear about the crash but glad you are ok. To me that looks undoubtedly totaled but please let us know what the outcome is, good luck to you

Florida_GATOR 07-02-2011 02:41 PM

You down to sell the other two tires? lol

mspaun3 07-02-2011 04:44 PM

Yeah, depending on whether they total it, and if I can buy it back from Geico, I may part it out.

ncheung85 07-02-2011 05:04 PM

Way more than $9k. I recently crashed my z. The total repair cost for mine was about $15k.

It wasn't as much damage as yours.
