my def of "rice"

the only exceptions to all this is a pure track car or pure show car

Exterior:
-wide body
-euro/jdm lights of any kind
-huge ginormous wing
-body kits that just don't flow like those crappy ones at the 2010 auto show
-carbon fiber everything. hood and hatch are not rice if it's painted to match the color of the car, any other fiber is rice
-chrome, any chrome
-camouflage paint
-excess decals/emblems or incorrect emblems, ie GT-R on a mustang or TRD/VTEC on Nissan, Skyline on g35, etc...
-shaved door handles
-5% tint all around
-deep dish wheels
-exhaust tip sticking out way too much
-slammed suspension
-unpainted body kits or body kits that don't color match
-exhaust farts
-intakes sticking out of hood
-aftermarket sunroof
-turbo bulge on hood or hole cut in hood to facilitate turbo or piping
-neons
-aftermarket hids without correct projectors
-any hid color above 6000k
-car painted with designs on it, ie. hello kitty, pokemon, flames, etc...
-lambo door, cuz lets face it, even lambo don't have them
vented fenders
-non-functional hood pins. hood pins that actually lock are fine especially on cf hoods, don't what that sh!t flying off
-landing patch or iron-man headlights, i think blacked out is ok, but leave the amber reflector alone.
-angled license plate bracket or license plate mounted off center

Interior:
-CF everything
-roll cage on daily driver
-bucket seats
-missing passenger seat
-expensive sound system, double din screen, monitors galore, xbox/ps3/wii in trunk with flip out screen
-aluminum diamond plate floor mats
-removable steering wheel, that's just dumb to get rid of the airbag
-interior painted with designs on it, ie. hello kitty, pokemon, flames, etc...
-non functional gauges/switches
-replacement pedals that serves no additional purpose than look nice

i know i'm forgetting a few things, but i'm tired so i'm going to bed.

Someone needs to bitch slap that guy in the "supercharged" z and take that car away from him. What an embarrassment to the z community. How anyone could think what he has done to that car looks good is beyond me.

eddieconfetti 01-24-2010 11:58 AM

Everybody got their own opinion on rice. But i do remember rice being off the chain during fast and the furious times. I wonder what happened. Why is everyone hating on it now. It seems like having a sleeper is the thing now.

4r3s 01-24-2010 01:23 PM

yeah I guess what it comes down to is "to each their own" right? Its your car do what you want to it if thats what makes you happy. Personally I've always been a fan of the stock look with a few minor mods here and there as long as it looks clean.

kannibul 01-24-2010 01:36 PM

3rd video has to be fake. No one is really that stupid and can BS like that on the fly.

kannibul 01-24-2010 01:39 PM

Things NOT to do to teh Z:

fart-can exhaust
big wing
spinners
Anything that detracts from the cars original lines and appeal.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

NewlyIMPORTed 01-24-2010 02:00 PM

i just think having stickers or emblems of stuff you dont have is absolutely ridiculous like i have berk and stillen stickers and people ask me if i have anything done to my car......well yeah?? haha why would i put the stickers on it if i didnt

Should just tell them, no the Berk adds 20HP and the Stillen adds 10HP. :ughdance:

theDreamer 01-24-2010 02:12 PM

On what you can/cannot do to your own car, just enjoy the car and add what you think works well with the car. If you have to ask yourself what other think of what you added to maybe you should not do it? Maybe not because it is good/bad but because you are more concerned about what others think.

KillerBee370 01-24-2010 02:13 PM

I say if you makes you happy, it's your car... do what you want. But for godsakes... if you're gonna buy wheels.. BUY ALL FOUR! I've seen so many (honduhs mainly) with only 2 aftermarket wheels and 2 stockers on the car. WHAT is this about??

I never got this, I can understand if you are rolling on a spare/back up because you just blew a tire, but I have talked to a few people and they say it is because they will buy the other two next month. I just reply, why not wait to put them all on together, then I get this look:

Why the hell would you put a bunch of stickers on your car ANYWAY? I mean are these companies paying you to advertise?? MAYBE if I was sponsored but otherwise... noway.

BlackCherryZ 01-24-2010 04:02 PM

for my 370z, i would like to keep it "as stock looking as possible." it looks good....to begin with.....

plus, who gives $hit what other ppl do with their car and money. they can defile all they want - it's a good laugh...... i just could not stop laughing with the 350z "SUPERCHARGED."

my first impression was "what the *uck!" to begin with.........but i got a good laugh at it...

it's just a difference of opinion and preference....... what is right is only right to oneself, not to others........ bottom line: live and enjoy *^^*

and, if you do not have a Z, what gives to say anything unpleasant about a Z......

just curious as to what those two, who taped the first clip, have under the hood...

if you drive a shitty car, don't make any negative remarks on a nicer car, even if it's a ricer.... just my opinion.....

it's like non-smokers telling smokers to quit, for it is BAD for your health.........btw i am a non-smoker.... *^^*

nicknick 01-24-2010 04:20 PM

Ricers are people with bad taste, attitude, low intelligence, insecure and shallow dumb f**ks with no idea.

Tell us what you really think.

Jones Boy 01-24-2010 05:31 PM

I guess I'm a ricer then because I have 5 percent tint, and I am thinking about modding my headlights with landing strips or the ironman idea.

I figure to each their own.

What are landing strips?

Jessica 01-24-2010 06:23 PM

Nevermind. I found a youtube video with them.

PapoZalsa 01-24-2010 06:55 PM

I don't consider anyone ricer but stupid or ignorant. Like putting Fairlady Z stickers all over the car.

BTW, Ricers were originally termed to Asian market vehicles that have modifications. However, the term ricer comes from the late 60s early 70s when the Asian in California upgraded thier Toyotas, Mazdas, Nissans, etc and were beating many domestic on the streets. The domestic owners then called them "ricers" as racism because of thier background.

Yeah the term "ricer" is very derogatory. I would like to think that most of the people using this forum are a bit more on the astute side.

Actually the term originated from dumbazz Harley-Davidson riders making derogatory remarks about the far-superior Japanese motorcycles that started coming to the states with the Honda CB750.

The term was, and still is, "rice-burner".

Except my rice-burner Honda VTX1300C was made in Ohio...

While Harley's parts are made...where? ;)

If that was the case, we wouldn't be in the middle east.

LMAO it could have been built by Chevrolet, the fringe-leather crowd would still call it a rice-burner. :icon17:

I had to sit and listen to a clowna$$ CT DMV inspector a few years back when I had bought a used BMW from a guy out-of-state...so in CT you have to get it inspected...he was a Harley Forever moron who kept commenting on how "German bikes suck, Jap bikes suck, the only good motorcycle is Harley", blah blah, and I couldn't say anything since he was doing the inspection...man that pissed me off. And he probably drove a Toyota when on 4 wheels.

think where oil comes from, it'll be cheaper to just burn rice instead of gas, if rice powered engines are made

IDZRVIT 01-25-2010 06:33 AM

Hey, hey, hey.....quit bashing the Harley. My wife and I have one each. It's the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Maybe that's because Harley has been around for more than 100 years - longer than any other motorcycle manufacturer and most car manufacturers.

I think it happens when someone doesnt have a theme with their car or an idea on what they want to do. Keeping the car simple and clean is personally the best way to go. As long as there isnt gull wing doors, a 35 foot wing on the car, hydrolics, and spinners it should be fine.

Opinions? And some suggestions on what people should NOT do to their Z?

Any modification which makes the car less practical and harder to resell is a big no no in my book. I can't understand why anyone would lower their Z closer to the ground when the car is already too close to begin with and clearly was not designed to be that low.

Generally people remove mods before selling their car -- this is because mods usually never add value to a car and it . They are done for a personal touch when the owner feels a car needs that extra something.

I've never known someone to say "oh man, let me lower this car so I can make out when I trade in!"
