It's one thing when he's driving with his Mom holding his hand, another when he's alone or with a girl/guy.

That's not true at all. Just because you may not be able to control yourself when you are 18 doesn't mean there aren't others who can.

I have never had an accident, never had a speeding ticket, and am responsible in other aspects of my life which is why I got the Z when I was 19. Generalizations are not fair in some cases.

there are ways to protect your kid now a days -- if you're worried about him speeding, install the new GPS tracking device into his car -- I sell probably about 15 of them a year from the dealership to new drivers. I wish I was fortunate back then but watching these kids these days obtain a new $30k+ car, I ask what bad economy are we living in?

Wow, was your other car a time machine? How does one take a 2002 car back to 1970? Flux capacitor?

this thread is great.

All the older folks here (like me :)) are saying kids shouldn't be driving high powered sports cars at their age cause they have a higher probability of having an accident.

All the kids with Z's in the thread quickly point out how they are responsible and able to handle having a car like a Z. (which is exactly how I'd respond when I was that age too...)

ok, carry on...

PS--extended warrantee is a good idea if the car is going to be left stock and you/your son plan to keep it for a while.

I am old (39) and sometimes catch myself driving the Z like I am 18! :eekdance:

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have to say if it was me that made a comment like that I would indeed GET THE F**K OUT LOL!!!!!!!!! BMW 2002 was a sick little car, kind of like the first 3 series. Another car that I would like to own in my future along with a TR6, E-Type Jag and a 240Z

In your defense, RCK did say "2002 BMW", in that order. I thought the same thing until someone mentioned BMW 2002.

I agree. I didn't know what the heck a BMW 2002 is either. Next time say it appropriately.
