Compliments at work on your 370Z

Today I was minding my own business at my work desk and 2 coworkers that I don't know who they are stopped me to complement me on my red 370Z. I was not in the parking lot but, they recognized my plates Ian B and came looking for me just to tell me how awesome my car is. It's moments like this that make me like my 370Z even more.

Another coworker asked me if I made a lot of money since I owned a 370Z and she needed to come work in my department. I told her they are great bang for your buck cars and not out of her IT manager salary reach. lol!!!

That sure made my day.

My folks usually ask me for a raise every time I drive it to work. ;)

WhiskeyHotel 06-10-2011 05:22 PM

About is close as I get to a compliment is, "Is that yours?!?!" ;)

FromG2Z 06-10-2011 06:02 PM

yep.... that happens a lot. At work, in the neighborhood, at the store, at softball games, at car shows, etc...... Yes, it's one of the features I enjoy about owning the Z....

yakz 06-10-2011 06:24 PM

The compliments the car has gotten from total strangers has really surprised me. It's a good looking car and relatively rare, though. Having the sport package probably helps.

Masa 06-10-2011 06:28 PM

I get them all the time at work, running errands, getting groceries, random strangers at stop lights and gas stations... It's pretty rare around my area and having it in bright blue makes it stand out that much more. :rofl2:

SPOHN 06-10-2011 06:41 PM

I work at my uncle's gas station and I get people all the time telling me they need to start working there so they can have a car like mine. :icon17:

When someone says "nice car" I just smile and say "thanks! I bought it myself".

hahahaha!

being a minority, i am always asked, in this order, Nice Car! Is it yours? What do you do? Did mom and dad buy it from you? FML. I paid it off myself.

Really? I haven't had anyone say that to me and I'm a minority as well.

Yep lots of complements here as well from people I know and total strangers. But at the same time also alot of negative comments from people I thought where my friends, family members and some co-workers. Mostly not to my face, I find out later. The most popular negative comment is Must have a nice mom, or Mommy must have bought it (mom cause my farther past away a few years ago)

I hate people like that. They're just jealous.

red6spd 06-10-2011 08:56 PM

Yep me to, I mean I understand the car is not the cheapest thing in the world but its also not a M3 or a AMG Benz, as long as you work hard you can have one.

Yeah, but to someone who isn't a car person it looks like a very expensive car. Don't understand why those people can't believe someone just worked hard for it.

Jealous like you said before I guess.

2ndChance 06-10-2011 10:46 PM

In my country the 370z is a very exclusive car and rarely seen on the road, when I drive around sometimes people roll down their windows all excited and have this droll face, some even yell out "nice car man can I drive it". I also receive compliments from all my friends and co-workers. My parents thinks this is a ferrari or some exotic car, I guess they still don't understand.

Bad part is... there are a lot of haters, jealous kids with no respect for others, I've been hit with rocks twice, once with a half full soda can from the incoming lane, a long black marker pen line and a nasty spit in my wheels while I was in a public parking. And this is my first month of ownership.

I'll probably have to tint my windows and blackout everything, put some chrome 22" spinners to make people think the car belongs to some gangster or mafia member.

Torrentara 06-10-2011 10:48 PM

I've had no compliments so far. I think because it's all black, and because it is a convertible - doesn't look as cool as the coupes so nothing much to remark upon. But hell it's fun to drive lol.

Rebelman 06-10-2011 11:00 PM

Love hardly evere seeing my car....and no one else sees it so when they do we all get compliments

I get some of that too...:shakes head:

I hired b1adesofcha0s to protect my car, and have not been bothered since.

Red__Zed 06-10-2011 11:32 PM

it might also help that I got back in the gym.

b1adesofcha0s 06-10-2011 11:35 PM

I put red__zed's face on the front of my car to scare away haters.

b1adesofcha0s 06-10-2011 11:57 PM

Bastard.....he got punched in the face.

doda74 06-11-2011 12:49 AM

Unfortunately cannot drive my z to work because of the parking lot speed bumps. I don't think the car can clear those f'ing things. Besides, being only a mile from home, the car wouldn't even get warmed up.

Yeah I definitely don't see the point of driving to work if you live only a mile away. Unless you're trying to show off that sweet Nismo :driving:

370Z JT 06-11-2011 02:05 AM

Craziest thing that happened to me was when the passenger in another car leaned out the window to snap a photo. This was on the highway. That really caught me off guard. Lol.

Fastfatdude 06-11-2011 04:00 AM

i get incredulous looks from coworkers.. cuz they think i am nuts when driving a 3.7litre car that seats 2 persons... at a time when 1ltr of premium grade costs abt US$1.70 in Singapore

oh well.....

and as for attention, i feel more people look when i was driving the S2000 compared to the 370Z. But of course the 370 is running a stock exhaust whereas the S2k was running straight pipes... hehe

im a minority too and the only person that asked me "excuse me is this ur car?"was a cop that pulled me over for not wearing my seatbelt. i work in a warehouse and the supervisor said one day in front of alot of employees , hey this guy gotta be making good money cuz he driving a 370z ,we get paid incentives now everyone thinks im a high production employee ,i took that as a compliment ,

Usually compliments come from folks who drive uninteresting cars. I got two compliments this week that broke that rule. One from a BMW Z8 driver, and one from an Astin Martin Vantage V12. both gorgeous cars. I noted their cars first, then they asked if it was my Z parked out there, and complimented it as well.

USINC97 06-11-2011 11:09 AM

I tell them that it's my new company car.
