I'm in the same boat about distance. But where I work there are so many construction going on, detours, rocks flying from dump trucks and potholes that I just take my "huptie" truck and don't have to worry about it.

Makes me wonder what kind of hatin' the older Z owners are getting. I'm in my early 40s, still in shape after spending damn near half my life in the Army, but because of family genetics, my hair is about 80% gray. Mid-life crisis comments come to mind, or out trolling for young girls, stuff like that...

From female coworkers: "Sexy car" and "I love your little car!" and "I knew that had to be yours!" (because I am a car ho)
From a male co-worker: "very James Bond-ish" (that one disturbed me a bit. Not something one dude says to another dude")
From more than a few students: "I'm jealous! That is my dream car!" (which confirms my suspicion that I am immature!)

And you use to look like Freddy Mercury

We have a pretty cool parking lot at the shop... most are modified cars and SUVs. I'm the only Nissan though so I always win. :-)

MeetJoeAsian 06-12-2011 06:03 PM

my Z was overshadowed at work by a yellow Lambo...so it didn't get any attention unless if it was alone...

USMCASA 06-12-2011 06:43 PM

my Z is the nicest car at work, even nicer than my boss's. when they saw it they said they needed to renegotiate my pay lol

More than often, I get asked a VERY stupid question when people see my Z: what is your monthly payment?

:-/

A monthly payment is a function of your down payment, your loan period, and interest rate. Its going to differ for everyone, and even if two people have the same interest rate, it's going to differ depending on who makes a larger down payment. Sheesh! I've paid it off now, but that's out of context, there is just no sense in asking someone their monthly payment. All you need to ask is the MSRP, which basically you don't need to ask because you can just look it up online.

Bruche 06-13-2011 12:40 PM

I get the comments on my Z - like a biker that pulled up next to me just to give me the thumbs up. My wife actually gets more comments on her Juke - unusual and not very common. We see people standing next to it and talking about it while we are in stores or restaurants.

dudafunk 06-13-2011 12:43 PM

We have a Z and a Juke in our driveway too (and a Camaro)... I hate the Juke lol the front reminds me of a cockroach :(

Rone 06-13-2011 12:50 PM

When I pulled up to the barbershop, one of the hairstylists told me my car is really CUTE. lol

WorkinMan 06-13-2011 08:58 PM

I get compliments at work-frequently-while at the gas station, folks pull in off the street to ask about it and compliment it, and I see folks walk back to look at it in parking lots...makes you feel good!

MB370Z 06-13-2011 09:32 PM

I get a lot of "Nice 350" or "Nice car, wait is that an automatic? I don't like autos"

Yeah I get a lot of the same comments about the auto. Also "you should have gotten a manual".

Nismo89 06-13-2011 10:34 PM

its a daily thing when im at work now, going from my Accent (hyundai) to The Z.... people all stopped, mouths agape and were stunned that someone got something like that lmao..... didnt know who the driver of it was, and when they found out it was in fact mine, they all rushed to me, asking me for them to take a look at it .. "shes a beautiful car!!!!" ... another said "dayum! where you get the money from to pay for that working here?".... others were pretty much like Holy Sh*t..... nice car!!!!! and now i have people coming to me for new car advice (more recently someone stopped and asked me what i did before buying my 370z...hes interested in a used G35)

and i park alllllll the way on the opposite end of the parking lot so noone parks near me, and risks damage...PLUS i love love LOVE walking towards it! i just smile !

FromG2Z 06-14-2011 08:42 AM

^ be careful of parking TOO far. Some haters look for those, and will either park up next to your car with their crappo cars or worse, you get keyed. I know several folks that had this happen. Just be careful. Use good judgement depending of time of day, people with access to car, surroundings, etc.

bflosabre91 06-14-2011 09:15 AM

i get the "you must make too much money" from people at work a lot. i just hope my boss doesn't think the same thing cause i'm due for me yearly raise this month :D

Crazy4Z 06-14-2011 03:15 PM

Last month my boss finally saw my new car. I tried hiding away from people at work parking far away as possible. I had to park right behind him. He got out of his car while I waited my shift at work and scared me when he approached my car. Then he says "man we pay you way too much" lol. He always wanted to get the nismo. But he said he was too old to drive such a fast car. My other co workers finally heard about my car and really loved how it looks. Then when I had pay problems my boss told my shift foreman to give me more OT either that or give him my keys for 30 days to fix my pay issues lol.

TheGreatOne 06-14-2011 04:27 PM

Got lots of compliments and many "you must have another job or be doing something else to afford that" comments lol. but I rarely drive right to work, I'm right in the heart of downtown.

I will say its nice to get that kinda love for the car sometimes....solidifies why I love it so much...

Although, last week some scrub with his girl complimented me then proceeded to ask if I am a football player or professional fighter...as if I couldn't just be holding a regular job and pay for my car lol.

windex 06-14-2011 04:29 PM

In the little town I live in most people just stare. Especially since I work at home I go out looking like a hobo.

Rui Z 06-14-2011 04:37 PM

Girls love my car. Especially ones that work at the Drive Thru. I think I've gotten 4 compliments from girls working at the Drive Thrus.

The girl with the big knockers at work talks to me about my car :driving:now.

What really pisses me off is when people ask how I afford it. I generally look at them and tell them I bought it with drug money. Usually shuts them up pretty quick. Like really it's none of your damn business how much my car cost.

I actually tell people the same thing.

"How much are your monthly payments?"

I paid in full with cash up front.

"Wow how can you afford that at your age?" (I'm 25 y/o accountant working for the state gov.)

I sell drugs, my office job is just a cover so people don't get suspicious...

Unfortunately people underestimate. It's just human nature.

The first weekend I brought her home. My neighbor said. He doesn't like me. He then added he was gonna buy one but now he is gonna go for a GTR. I just said. The GTR is an awesome car.

I would have said I was getting a 911 because you know... all Z owners got a Z because they couldn't afford a 911! :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

Well living in Fairfax, there Is a good chance he can afford one. Of course if he could, It makes me wonder why he was driving s Hyundai Instead of a nice car.

Exactly!

It's all about pulling up to that Z owner at a stop light and making him wish he was driving a 911 instead.

This guy is so full of himself. It's beyond belief. I was not really surprised.

He said some pretty dickish stuff over the two years I lived here. When I first moved in, he asked me how much I was renting the place for. I told him I pay a mortgage not rent.

I think maybe the whole Mid-A crew should drive up to your house and park all our Z's up front for him to see. Maybe his jealousy will reach new heights and he will kill himself when he sees all the different colored Z's out front. :rofl2:

For the sake of full disclosure, I used to own a 2000 stang lol.

Synack 06-15-2011 10:03 AM

Definitely helps this situation in the NISMO. Because of the body kit. I had a couple people ask me something like: "What supercar is that?". I didn't want to say it wasn't lol. So I just said it was a NISMO 370Z.
