If this deters you from buying a manual, you need more exercise. It is not the cars fault. No, it is not fun to crawl in traffic with or without an automatic.

This subject now reminds me of the whole VDC off, equals sure death opinion. Please do not blame the car for your own deficiencies.

I know what you mean. I had a restored 1963 Impala SS until a few years ago (sometimes I wish I still had it) with a 4-speed and the clutch operation was ... well, let's just say that it was easier than pushing the (non-power assist) brake pedal to stop this beast, but not by much.

I've often thought that the development of the automatic transmission was the beginning of the downfall of western civilization!!
