Just thought I would add I drove glendora mountain road again (took a vid this time) and even though I was reving it more than before the oil temps never got above 235 F with the oil cooler (they maxed out at that a couple minutes into it and stayed at about that level).

Considering my normal oil temp is around 170-180 ish I was honestly surprised it went that high as I wasn't expecting it to go over 230.

The oil temp gauge I think has clouded a few peoples judgment. More then likely whatever car they owned in the past did not have a gauge so they have no idea what there temps were. I have heard many people complaining about temps in the 230-250 range, thats not really that abnormal. The hottest my temps got was 260, happen to me twice when I was really ringing her out, so I dont feel that my Z had the oil temp issue. Yea I added an oil cooler because I plan on tracking the car and going FI some day, those where the biggest reasons.

Some people don't know how to drive the Z. Perfect example of this is people that goes to the Tail of the Dragon and keep the car on 2nd and 3rd all the time, of course your oil temp is going to go up pass the 230º and go into limp mode.

I have ran the Tail of the Dragon HARD twice (2010,2011) and some of the Smokey Mountain roads and had no issues without an oil cooler.

So what gear were you in then? I wasn't going crazy but I also wasn't using my breaks very much either. I would think when taking the twisties for best control you would want your RPM in the 3-5k range.

Sounds like your Z runs about as hot as mine did.
