Keeping a distance and still get cut off?
I don't know if anyone else experiences this, but the more I try not to ride too close to people and keep a reasonably clear distance (to minimize rock chips), the more I notice more people willing to pass me and cut me off and then ride in front of me..defeating the purpose of keeping a little bit of distance in front of me. I mean what gives, I'm certainly NOT driving under the speed limit!

Someone cutting you off costs you two seconds at the most. So let's get crazy and say you get cut off 30 times in your commute, it costs you a minute. So, in other words, it's not that big of a deal.
When people cutting you off gets you down, remember that you're going to die. |
Heh. you should try driving in VA and MD... Getting cut off is a way of life in the Mid-A region...
|
Thats when you go around and cut them off :stirthepot:

yah, just keep backing off and you'll be fine. :)

Ya'll crack me up. My point was that theyr'e originally behind me, then change lanes and then cut me off only to go slower than I am...which again defeats the purpose of keeping a little distance from them in front of me lol. I'm not worried about losing time, just don't want rocks thrown up at Nissans crappy *** paint.

That's nothing, try driving in Atlanta where people cut you off then give you the finger.:shakes head:

actually, Frost's advice is pretty relevant to just about any situation huh? xyz got you down? don't sweat it, you're gonna die anyway. OP--clear bra is the best solution to the rock chip issue if it bothers you that much. |

My clear bra gets done in a week...thank god! |
Quit slowing down. Problem solved. Who the fack cares about rock chips anyway?
|
It's you not cjeezy, it's your car ;) Some drivers in MD & VA speed past you, get in front of you in your lane, slow down AND give you the WTF look when you pass them.

PRoblem with Atlanta. When it rains, they go slower, but because they are going slower they feel they can now be only 3 feet from your bumper. Thus, everytime it rains, at least 2 major highways are shut down from idiots wrecking. But the thing that pisses me off the most is: Im in the right lane, ready to take an exit theres a car thats about maybe 10 car lengths beheind in the lane to my left. And theres NO ONE behind me. Apparently he needs to take same exit as me so instead of just getting in behind me, they accelerate and as soon as they barely pass my car they cut in front and then have to brake hard to grab the exit. wtf yo. |

I coined this situation "jerked off". The context I use is "The traffic is all jerked off, I'm just staying in my lane". When it's that bad I tend to just move the hell over to the right side and join the cattle herd. It feels safer over there than being with the jabronies weaving and braking constantly. |

When you take the highway/expressway/beltway you are going to run into the most idiots on the road, especially during rush hour and lunchtime. No matter where you live it is all the same. I am from Baltimore, live in Killeen/Fort Hood (TX), have been stationed in Oahu (HI) and Naples (Italy) and it is all the same.
If you leave space, someone will fill it and it really doesn't matter if their vehicle will actially fit. They will either act like they didn't see you or just move anyway. All I ask is that they use a signal so that I and the idiot behind me have a chance to react. You would also be surprised at the amount of idiots out there that think that by passing you, they have bested you in some way. When it rains in Killeen 190 has at least 1 accident that involves like 3-4 cars on average. The last time it rained, I passed 4 accidents on my way to PT. The last one was at the Main gate, lol. I really don't worry about it much. If I run into idoits (and I try to avoid the highway), I just :driving:, switch lanes, and roll out. |
Seriously though what is it with some people they see my car and immediately want to cut me off.
On my way to work this morning chipper as FK I just bought my Double Din Navi... Some kid in a new Monte Carlo tried cutting me off he's flooring it, and I'm cruising in 4th gear. I just gave it gas and he couldn't pass me. I'm guessing that pissed him off cause he tried several more times getting within inches of my car. After several failed attempts with his lack of power... I pulled up next to him jumped out of the car after he curses at me only to see him high tail out of there. So... Don't be a fkn douche on the road if you don't got balls to back it up. Okay end of rant. Carry on... |

One time with the left lane closing, i saw a MB hauling *** down the lane and if i didnt let him in front of me, he would have hit the orange barrels or the semi truck.. or me.. He thanked me for giving him room, by flipping me the bird.. So mad i was actually banging my head on the steering wheel. but not been to SKorea, but in China.. driving is a madhouse. Its a way of life there, but for the outsider to see it would freak them out. |

Sounds like some crazy drivers out there. I don't know about you guys but LA has moving wall issues.
Eg: wide open 4 lane highway and there just happen to be 4 cars (probably SUVs) taking up each lane all of them pacing each other at around 60 mph. On the rare occasion that the disparity in speed allows a gap for you to pass it results in having to cut off the car that's slightly slower. FURTHER more if you start to speed up so you can get around the slower car the driver will speed up to BLOCK you. I still can't determine if this is conscious or they see something going faster in their peripheral and they're suddenly like "SQUIRREL!". :shakes head: IMO if you're part of this moving wall (on purpose or inadvertently) then you deserve to be cut off. If not then people are just ******** where you live. Lol. |

[QUOTE=PapoZalsa;1053503]In PR they cut you off but don't give you the finger, they show you a gun... ;)
When I lived in PR I worked in a bad neighborhood, San Isidro I'm talking about someone shot daily. At night you could not stop at a red light you were advised by the cops to blow rite thru them. Had off duty cops working for me and all at the bakery. What's crazy is we were robbed a few times. But whoever robbed the bakery was found dead the next day. They have this thing to not rob from your own people in your own town. |

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who notices this. I think that when people pass you and then cut you off, subconsciencely they're probably thinking they're in a fast car...with a smaller penis

But the fact that people cut right in front of you even though they could have waited a few more seconds to pass and build distance makes me mad. |
