That Nismo is bad a$$! I wonder what engine he is running, because it sounds nasty.

oleg 04-09-2011 05:18 PM

I think its a CORR VK56 engine, at least thats what I read in the comments.

SPOHN 04-09-2011 05:24 PM

That baby sounds mean.

3SeventyZ 04-09-2011 06:45 PM

Looks like a blast. Paying for tires makes this a tough sport to break in to, but fun it must be.

Boost_lee 04-10-2011 01:10 AM

awesome

KillerBee370 04-10-2011 07:42 AM

Drifting. How did that crap ever get so damn popular?

cossie1600 04-10-2011 09:33 AM

Gymnastic is pretty popular, some people like judges vs. absolute time.

I never liked drifting until I went to a Formula D event and saw it in person!

It's huge in Japan...where our cars are from.

Vegitto-kun 04-10-2011 05:47 PM

can you...buy that engine?

Rikter 04-10-2011 08:58 PM

Turning left for 500 laps.. how did that ever become popular?

Footloose301 04-10-2011 09:31 PM

I think the 370Z's should have the Titan V8 in it anyways. I miss 385lbft of torque

Have you ever tried it?

It's pretty damn fun. I had an S14 back in the days, coilovers + LSD + used tires = a couple hours of fun.

Vegitto-kun 04-11-2011 05:01 AM

people who say its stupid cant drift.

simple as that.

Fixed.

Simple as that.

Its as much of a sport as a monster truck rally.

:icon18: good point. To each his own. I think drifting is pretty entertaining and even more fun doing :icon17:

Mt Tam I am 04-11-2011 09:35 AM

Drifting became popular in Japan because with so little space for driving, some guy started this stuff in a small lot. It caught on.

Awesome!

I'd have to say that Chris is by far my most favorite driver of the FD series... He is a beast!

Woah

nuTinmuch 04-11-2011 12:11 PM

How do you not understand the appeal of drifring?

It's loud and obnoxious and involves cars that serve no purpose -- except to make tire smoke and noise.

That's awesome.

:iagree: It's like all motorsport. I may not like it as much as other forms of motorsport, but I understand the appeal. It requires skill and practice.

Much like X Games and Olympic Gymnastics and/or ice skating, it's all style points, but there is still a very athletic or skilled display going on.

I prefer objective results, racing for speed. I like Rally and Formula 1. Not so much NASCAR.

However, no matter what I like, it all requires skill, and it's all fun to watch for someone.

I don't think anyone has a problem with that, but the fact its a sport is silly really. Does it matter if there's a "competition" going on, or are you just going to see the loud, obnoxious cars sliding around spitting smoke everywhere? Odds are, 95% of the people there don't give a **** about the "sport", and just want to see some cars do some badass sliding, and that's A-OK with me. I can COMPLETELY appreciate the skills it takes to be a good drifter, but I wont ever recognize it as a sport.

Dreezy562 04-11-2011 01:58 PM

Like someone mentioned earlier about gymnastics. It is very skillful but it bring anothernelemnt to be judged : STYLE racing simply does not have it. The fastest guy wins is boring. Being wble to express your style with a 500+ hp car sliding sideways is comepletly different. I think its a sport, just like gymnastocs is a sport. How can you speak on the odds of what appeals to the fwnbase whn you yourself arent even a fan??

TypeOne 04-11-2011 03:13 PM

I don't know if any of you guys realize this... but there are people that play video games professionally. I'm pretty sure there is a pro gaming league.

If THAT can be a "sport," drifting certainly can be.

It takes tremendous skill to drive cars like that...

The definition of the word "Sport"

(Noun) an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.

I'd say by definition... Drifting is a sport.

shadoquad 04-11-2011 03:19 PM

The definition of what does and what does not constitute a "sport" varies from person to person. Whether it's sports or it's entertainment, people enjoy watching it. There is no denying that.
