Check american express savings.. they also have competitive rates.

Look at the bottom, and I promise you that's not all the banks doing 4%+. Look around.

Different banks run different "promos". what they do is offer great rates to attract customers so that they can lend more. Find a bank with a shitty checking interest rate, and they are going to be more happy to issue you a loan. Find a bank with a great checking interest rate, and vice-versa. Back in 2010, for example, my googling reveals that there was a bank in TX that was open to all TX residents that offered over 4% up to $25K. Currently, they have dropped down to 2%. Did you get in on that? Why not?

Well never fear, I did your homework for you just to prove to you and others that if you look around you can put your money to work for you: Interest Rates & Fees | Tyler - Longview - Kilgore | Texas - TX | BankTexas

There you go. 3.25% up to $10K. Open and available to YOU! But you know what? You probably won't do it anyway, so I'm wasting my time other than to prove to you what you're pissing away in interest with low rates.

Thanks for being honest. Most of the other 20 something's in here that paid in cash forgot to mention that someone gave them the money. :ughdance:

I'm 27 and my car is financed. Payments are easy, credit score is nearly 800, but I need history. The only check I ever plan on writing that's $35k or larger is for a down payment on a house. I'm the "keep it in the bank as long as possible" kind of guy. I worked hard for that $35k. No sense in spending it right away when I can just pay for it little by little.

My next daily driver will be leased and I will buy something used that I can pay for in cash as a toy car. Sub 15k.

LMFAO Warbucks....I am 27, I still owe about 22K on my Z. I paid off my '07 Galant after I got back from Iraq, and traded it in for the Nissan.

I am pinching every penny (being single helps) :icon17: to pay it off as a Christmas gift to myself this year. USAA helped me finance it, and they are awesome with payment flexibility.

I'll own it in a little less than 4 years...unless I win the lotto then, it'd be much quicker.

Mine is financed at 2.9% for 72 months and I'm about to make my first payment in a few days...lol. It's going to be a long, but hopefully extremely enjoyable, six years! That said, the plan is to keep it for 10+ years though no one knows what the future holds.

It takes forever to start seeing it come down. I have dropped several grand off in the last few months.

22 financed the whole shibang. Once the wifes car is paid off in a month or two I will be doubling down on the Z. My goal is to own it in 2-3 years.
