Question 7sd auto vs 6sd man and about nismo

I'm looking to buy and only have drove the auto and love the paddle shift. Just wondering if there is a diff in the way the car drives. I know the paddles are the up and coming thing on sports cars. Just wanted to get some opinions on it. Another question is how do you guys like your nismos do they drive stiffer than the regular z. Not sure which one I want only know I want a white one or maybe a 40th love that color too. Thanks guys. If you know anyone who is lookin for a h2 send them my way.

If it's even a question -- 7AT.

Couldn't be happier with mine

I have the 7AT myself, but barely ever use the paddles honestly lol I know that's a big feature of the 7AT but I wish the paddles would rotate with the steering wheel cause it kinda defeats the ease of use when I still have to move my hands mid turn to shift up/down. Just my :twocents: I'm just glad I have the ease of shifting ability like a manual without the clutch ftw.

wow hauling h2 in this fuel economy is just brutal. Anway......I've driven 6spd for my entire life and it never gets old. I love my Z stick, though I never tried 7spd.....I imagine it to be bit more comforable but less exciting. You get the extra spice out of the 6 spd imo. 7spd is like .1 second faster than 6spd in 0-60.

Ive tried nismo but there isnt much of a difference between nismo and 370 sport package. Nismo also has stiffer suspension so be ready for louder road noise and bumpier ride.

But I just love 6 spd. It doesnt get boring, having the privilage of controlling the clutch, and way more exciting than 7spd in everyway. The only paddle shift I'd get is if the car had a F1 transmission where the gear changes in less then a faction of a second.

Good luck with the decision

I hate flappy pedals that move with the steering wheel. I drove a jaguar and it has pedals that moves with the steering wheel. I always had to remember "they are oooon that side now"

with the Z I always know where they are.

get 7AT its quicker than the 6MT :stirthepot:

All the AT owners are going to say ATs are better, all the MT owners are going to say MT is the way to go. You can't win.

I prefer the manual. I would only get a paddle gearbox if it was a dual clutch design, such as the GT-R

Actually our auto already quite 'close' to a D.S.G.[very little slip is noticed].

I take one look at the shift boot and lever on the 7AT and feel like I'm looking at a base Ford Focus. 6MT until the cows come home for me.

Like the PDK from Porsche, I still think the AT are overrated

happytheman 04-05-2011 08:40 AM

My wife was urging me to consider the AT and I told her there's no way I was going to go auto...I just LOVE driving a manual tranny. The only manual transmission I'll own (as already stated) would be the double clutching GTR! :)

Oh yeah...IBTL!:rofl2:

My last 3 cars weren't even available in an auto. I didn't know they made sports cars without the mandatory manual trans.

A big old torque converter does not belong in a full bred sports car. Sorry AT guys LOL.
