Positive new Motor Trend Review 4/1/11
Did not see that this has been posted yet, M/T gave it a pretty good review overall with some discprepancies! Of course there are tons of hater comments in the personal comments below...oh well.

"A rocket it isnt" lol. That seems pretty fast to me.
|
They should have tested the 7AT -- it would have been a little faster :D
|
They should test the Nismo - it would've flown.

Yea but they would have fallen asleep during the test drive. :stirthepot: |

the MSRP on a fully loaded Z is pretty ridiculous, I'll give them that.

you guys complain too much about road noise. its to be expected with wide 19" tires... my 2006 corolla daily driver, now that is LOUD. |

I might have to upgrade to get that vicious LSD - I don't think my viscous one competes.
My 2009 has alcantara in the doors and the seats - it really is a pretty bad article. |
Hahaha, yeah the vicious LSD sounds pretty bad ass.

I heard they were supposed to test a Nismo but they couldn't catch it. The sparrow's are much easier to get ahold of. Glad to see some good times and a good review out of MT. |
I did not know I was supposed to calculate my dollar-to-grin factor. I have not kept track of my grins.
Does anyone know where I could find a formula to calculate this, going back to last July? :ugh2: Oh, and for the record Motor Trend, rocket speeds are somewhere in the 20,000 - 40,000 mph. So not even a GT-R, Viper, Steve's Mustang or a P-car would be "a rocket". :stirthepot: |
I know I'm happy no matter what they're review is. However, I think all the Z's should come with the Nismo brake pads.

They tested a fully loaded coupe and talked about its MSRP.
I mean, beside the fact that you can get a fully loaded coupe for WELL under 42k, you can get a base no-frills Z for under 30k if you know how to deal. But it is funny that 0-60 in under 5 and 1/4 mile in 13 is considered slow these days. |
I don't even bother pondering car mag articles anymore. If this was a german mark. They would be so impressed with much less stats. Whenever the car names are Asian, they always nitpick small stuff. The only thing I can agree with is touring sticker shock. Not much is added for an extra 4k. I do agree on its base, sport and nav pricing.

There is always going to be haters!!! You know how it goes...
|
I thought the article was pretty positive in general, at least they made sure to emphasize how much value you get for your money with the Z which is likely its greatest attribute.

I have Nismo pads on my fully loaded Touring. :) They dust a little more, but the amount of heat they can withstand is absolutely amazing. |

On a side note, have you guys read about the G37 IPL? It's not that impressive... heavy and pricey. |

Kind of like the Nismo Z. Has a new body kit, a few suspension upgrades, and I think same amount of HP as the Nismo. |
i thought it pretty well hit the mark on the 370..............
if anyones pays msrp they should get their head check out............... wish i had a nickel for every time someone said the 3 grand for the sports package is the best value on any car made today period............... as far as the grin factor goes my face was sore months ago....... :driving::driving: |

IPL is no where near the level of the M3 or S5. Maybe more like 335is. |
The G37 IPL doesn't look too bad, and it comes with nice features. More power + weight + price... meh. I was close to trading in the 350Z for the G37, but was happy to back away from it. It was priced around $33k-35k at the time, which wasn't bad at all. The same with our Zs... it's approaching the 40k mark. O_o

Note: Before some one tries to flame me by saying that my parents bought me the car, let me say that this is not the case. I payed for my car with all of my own money including gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. My parents were not comfortable with me getting a sports car since they didn't think it would be safe. After much convincing from me and my uncle that the Z was perfectly the same and pretty much a G37 with 2 less seats, they were finally OK with it  |
