Yes, because the union bosses would take five days to schedule a meeting and six months later they would encourage a strike... Might be finished in two - three years.

OT- bravo Japan!

I'm agree with Lug..
Whilst the Japanese wont sit still or procrastinate, think this is a fake..
Road wouldn't get fixed this quick and this good. Just think how many miles of road/rail are destroyed. Get them useable, yes. There are other priorities, hospitals, shelter, food/water. Can you imagine the amount of homes/rebuilding required. Will they rebuild in same place?

We need to wish them well, and help as much as possible.
My son spent 10 days in Minami Sanriku (USAR's from Oz) The scale of destruction is difficult to grasp, even from the extensive coverage we've had.

I was having dinner with my brother and father on Sunday and my brother was saying it would take 30 years to rebuild Japan to where it was before the earthquake. My father was saying that they would never be able to rebuild and it would never be the same country. I kept think they were both nuts and this proves it.

(I realize this doesn't mean they are back to normal, but they're obviously not wasting any time rebuilding.)

It is indeed and as you all can see it's not a cheap fix or temp it just shows you the work ethic and determination of the Japanese people, at these hard times they come together even closer as q people

I honestly think that this catastophe will strengthen Japan in the long run because it forces them to evaluate and act upon their priorities first and foremost. The road repair is a great example of that vs. the countless hoops we have to go through in the USA to get anything done. Slow is good sometimes but fast is also necessary from time to time. (IMO)

They'll defiantly build Japan back before we get the twin towers back.
