Default Another Nismo or Touring thread.... But with an actual basis!

Before I get flamed I'd like to atleast get my question out...

I'm on the fence with purchasing a 370 because I still can't figure out the better value between the trims. A lot of my love for the Nismo comes from the body kit. I think it looks great and if I get the nismo I probably wouldn't touch it for the life of the car. Further more in both cars I will eventually swap out all the parts anyway: exhaust, rims, brakes, etc.

On the other hand, I'm not particularly fond of the stock 370 body, however, I want the features of the touring: built in nav, leather seats, backup cam, etc. but would want to put the nismo body on it because I don't want the nightmare of doing body work to the vehicle, it's a bloody nightmare (unless someone knows of another kit that is already completely fitted to the 370. Is the amuse?). Problem is the nismo kit is $8000 or so on its own.

Guess the question would be:

Nismo with catskinz, double dins, etc.

Or

Touring with Nismo kit and possibly being called a poser?

I'm looking for responses regarding cost comparison, potential problems down the road regarding body, performance, or warranty issues. So with that... let the flaming commence.

in your case, do the nismo and the hopups you listed.

in my case im not a fan of the nismo body kit, didn't want leather in my sports car, so went with base with sport package.

I intend to do light tracking but this will also be a DD. Forgot to mention that!

I expect maybe 3-5 times a year tracking which isn't much.

Lets look at the Nismo:
-You can add leather seats for under 2k
-Double din will function just as well as stock navigation and with upgraded speakers you will be a good step about the stock bose for under 3k

Now the Touring:
-Nismo kit will probably run 5k (you can get the wing from Seibon which cuts down cost) or you can do the Amuse kit for about the same price
-Suspension will run 2-3k (this includes coilvoers, sways, etc.)

That basically makes the cars very similar overall in terms of what you get, but if you honestly plan to throw out a lot of things then I would suggest the Touring.

I tested the Nismo. Obviously not a long term test thing but it seemed bearable to me. As was the sound level. I couldn't say if I would get annoyed long term.

Ofcourse the street was rather immaculate so it's hard to say. Just gotta avoid roads with a ton of pot holes i suppose. Would an adjusted suspension help? For both cars I'll probably eventually get coil overs so harshness may be equal later. thoughts?

yah, if you get softer rates obviously that will help greatly with the nismo's ride if it's too stiff for you. it's subjective so hard to say... i mean, i use to setup my cars pretty stiff when i was young and thought that was kinda cool, but these days i like my cars tight but forgiving yet not soft. the base's suspension imho is near perfect for street.

Honestly I'd get the touring man. The OEM nav and OEM leather is way better than any aftermarket replacement you can get, where as a Nismo body kit will look exactly the same. Interior was very important to me and eventhough I have an aftermarket Double Din Navigation system in now, my biggest regret is not having an OEM Navi which looks, feels, and performs better imho.

OEM leather sucks IMO.

If you love the body kit, and it's worth it to you, go for it. I'll buy the Nismo rims off you if you go that route

I think the Nismo is pretty pricey for what you get though.

The Nismo body kit is not even close to $8,000 or even half that. I paid around $3,000 for the parts before paint and am looking at around $4,000 painted and installed (doing the install myself, since its OEM nissan it fits as good as original parts. This is of course not including the rediculously priced Nismo wing. But you can get a replica for under $500 and have it painted and installed--which I am not. I also got Nismo wheels used so I saved alot there too. Why am I doing all this? Simple. I want a Blue "NISMO" 370Z. I could of bought a Nismo and painted it blue, but I got a new 370Z that was a year old and saved a lot of $$ so that is the route I took. I don't care if my car will be a "poser". It will be MY CAR and it will look awesome.

I say get a nice used Touring 370Z and get the Nismo body kit for it and have it painted and install it yourself to save $. Or you can just have the body shop do it for a little more. Z1 has a good package deal on it for around $3600.

http://www.z1motorsports.com/g37_370...oducts_id=4515

Then you can mod as you like with your choice of CBE, CAI, coils/springs, etc... The Nismo suspension is not that great and most sell it to get something else.
