Update:
Over $5200 in damages. Body shop is currently working on my car. The insurance company was willing to pay for half the cost of modifying the headlights, and they only covered the broken headlight. The work consists of replacing the fender, passenger headlight, bumper, support brackets, passenger air box, and fix the hood. They will take it to another shop in town to work on the clear bra. In the meantime, I ordered a black chrome burger emblem for the front bumper. My car will look ridiculous for awhile because of the mismatched headlights, but I am in talks with a modder to work on "Version 2.0" of my headlights (originally done by CinCity). The look will be similar, but improved with different LEDs and painted shroud. Plus, the Ultinon 6000K bulbs will be replaced with Morimoto 5000K bulbs. When all the work is completed, I'll post updated pictures. This summer? INGS +1 waiting to be installed... thank goodness I never installed the lip. It would've been trashed. |

Out of pocket: Matching driver side headlight ($630) Morimoto 5000K bulbs to match both headlights ($55) TRS Projector Lens Upgrade ($50) Black Chrome Emblem ($75-80) That doesn't include over $200 spent on hardware to mod the headlights on my own (paint, LEDs, etc.). I've decided to have someone work on them for me, so figure another $200-300 on top. Quote:

Hey Digi, you don't happen to have an extra passenger side headlight do you?
|
Seems like things are moving pretty quickly, I hope you get your car back soon Digi. When you say better LEDs, are you updating them to brighter bulbs?

Thanks! The turn around time for CinCity took 2-3 months, and it took a few more months afterwards to get my core refund. But enough about that...
Well... I'm going to tease you guys with my new ideas since some new toys came in today. I'm still in the design stage with the "modder" for Version 2.0 of my headlights. Hopefully I get my car back late next week so I can take out the headlights and ship them out. Till then... I will speak little about the design. It won't be that exciting... just using different LEDs and making some other changes. :happydance: |
Update: Repairs Completed
I dropped by the body shop to check up on my car, and the repairs are complete! At first glance, everything looks great and it looks like the car was never involved in an accident the first place. There were no structural damages so they didn't have any issues lining up the panels. So the passenger fender, headlight, bumper, and hood were replaced. I also dropped in the black pearl emblem.
Next up is getting the clear bra installation on Friday. On Monday, new Hankook tires (from 255/35 & 285/30 to 275/35 & 305/30), Power Slot rotors, Hawk HPS Pads, G-Stop brake lines, Motul fluid, and Swift springs will be installed. Also, 4-wheel alignment is covered by the other party's insurance. Afterwards... I'm going to drop the bumper and pop off the headlights and ship them off to get modded followed by INGS +1 installation. Phew! Here's what it looks like now: http://www.the370z.com/members/digit...d-04062011.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/digit...d-04062011.jpg |
Haha, the Z has a black eye still. Great to see the Z restored to her prime, can't wait to see the lip installed!
