Too bad, but I'm sure you'll get fixed up all shiny and new.

Thanks guys... it was hard to sleep last night. Well that + super severe allergies.

I contacted her insurance (Progressive) to file a claim a few hours after the accident. A local rep called and I did the recorded interview, which was pretty easy. I started shaking again when I started talking about it (newb here). She says she will try to contact the other driver and ask her a few questions. Then I quickly mentioned that she was apprehended, and that threw the rep in for a quick surprise. She ask if I knew why, and I told her I didn't feel it was my business to ask. Basically, I kept a distance once the state troopers arrive and didn't want to say anything stupid while handling my own situation.

I also notified my insurance that I was involved in an accident that was not my fault and was told to call the other party's insurance and deal with them first.

Looking at how close the wheel was to being smashed, can you imagine how much difference if it was 1 or 2 MPH?

Yup... pretty stressed. Just hoping my car is safe in the dealer body shop. I can take it anywhere, but it was already dropped off at the dealer shop.

The race is on to see if my Smurf gets put back together before your baby does, DIGI! :rofl2: (hey, gotta keep it a little lighthearted since we're both experiencing somewhat of the similar thing)

That sucks Digi, glad to hear you're ok though

Reminds me of an accident I had last year. I wanted to turn left onto the highway on ramp and there was a guy making a right onto the ramp coming from the opposite side of the road. Since there were no other cars on the road I began to turn left. This idiot (with his right turn signal on) decides to jump out of the ramp and keep going straight. I immediately slammed on my brakes and had my car completely stopped. It was a 2 lane road and I was stopped not in his lane, but in the one next to it completely out of his way. I thought everything would be good and at the last second this fvcker decides to swerve head-on into my car

The accident totaled my new 2010 maxima which I only had for 4 months. Worst part was, It ws declared my fault just because I was turning left. Luckily I didst get a ticket and no one got hurt. The only good thing that came out of it was getting more money back for the car than I bought it for and I was able to get the Z because of it. This is the only accident I've ever been in.

sorry to hear about the unfortunate accident. Get her fixed back up and on the road again!

Don't be too embarrassed about the shaking thing. I still sometimes freak out a bit about my first accident that happened years ago. Even when they are minor, they scare the **** out of you.

Props for remaining calm and not chewing the other driver out, though.

CATCHINZZZS 03-20-2011 06:28 PM

Sucks a good thing ur ok..

awfrazer 03-20-2011 07:08 PM

Make sure you follow up with a diminished value claim...this is very important to do and they (the insurance company) won't mention it. I had an no-fault accident in my Z about a month after I got it where there was about $6,000 in damage. I got $5,300 in the diminished value claim to pay off a chunk of the loan with in addition to the damage being fixed.

This is to cover the loss of value of the vehicle after the accident.
