The first time I test drove the 370z it was an auto. I disliked it a lot because of the fact that I actually enjoy driving a sports car in manual. This is why I will never buy a GTR because of the paddle shifters. I may consider the paddle shifter if it was a Ferrari but other than that... never a auto for a sports car.

future tech

I enjoy the 6 speed.

Interestingly high tech ATs seem to be all the rage.

This thread will not end well, I fear. I can see religious arguments brewing again.

For what it's worth, I have a manual, I am a 3-pedal addict, and I love driving my car that way. I also know a number of automatic drivers who really enjoy their Z's. So, who am I to judge? As long as we're all enjoying the vehicle, drive it with whatever transmission you like!

I won't try to speak for others, but I realize I am becoming a bit of a dinosaur on this issue. Ferrari, Porsche, and even Nissan don't offer MT on some sports cars because they don't maximize performance.

I also realize Nissan could not appeal to the range of enthusiasts without offering an AT. They know we aren't all tracking the car, and some of us suffer through stop and go city traffic everyday.

So, to each their own :tiphat:, even though MT is way better, and my Z could beat up your Z :stirthepot:
;)

I would bet that this is not true or correct against my car...........FOR ANY 370z MT.

With 0.5 second shift times and a high level of lock-up preventing torque converter slip, most drivers will likely post faster point-to-point times with the auto than the six-speed manual 370Z.

So obviously this is a subjective thread and just mixed opinions and we've gone over this way too many times...

But what I did find interesting was that with a AT, even though you floor the pedal, between 0 to 60 you won't get WOT as there is a restriction programmed in and with the manual you do get WOT if you press the pedal all the way down...
Obviously you can get rid of that by changing the flag in the ECU, but the reason the AT needs this is interesting.... :stirthepot:

-Much more direct in feel both in power delivery and drivability
-Can handle more power reliably
-Suit the character of the Z-Provides a level of driver involvement I believe an AT can never replicate

The 6MT in the 370z is not the most refined gear box but I love it, however I have to say the 7AT is very good at what it does.

That is a personal opinion : )

The GTR's auto is better than half the ferrari's, therefor confused as to why you wouldnt want it in a GTR? personal taste?

Since you seem to point purely at speed, try bullit's car.

Most drivers is the key and with little skill involved. Thus leaving room for the "really skilled drivers will post better times with the MT"

Otherwise they would have stated (ALL drivers will post better times with the AT). Also pure speed isnt the only deciding factor for buying a car or choosing the transmission. If speed was the only deciding factor, you should have gone without the touring's added weight :)

either way im playing both sides of the fence. Alot of people post "opinion" as fact.

although the real fact is this..

whatever makes the person who is paying for it, and driving it happy. And if people can't respect other people's decisions on that, then dont call yourself a car enthusiast, your just a arrogant jack.

oh and thats my opinion, not a fact :p

Cant wait to meet you at the Z1 get together. Bullits car is not the same Liter motor as mine anymore and not a fair comparison......that being said I would still go for it and you might be surprised. Until you ride in my TT 7AT you should hold your opinions. If you want to get an idea of how my car runs.......call John at Z1 and ask.

I speak to john alot and im well aware of his opinions on your car. As well as all the other TT cars they have done. All are easily respectable, perhaps you should also respect the others? I wouldnt be suprised at your car. im well aware of what it can do. People here arent saying that the 7at is junk etc etc. They are just mostly stating they prefer whatever it is they prefer. Its like the color of your car. Are you going to tell me that riding in a blue car is different? or better looking? nah its what you wanted. I wanted white. Good thing is, im paying for mine and your paying for yours so there isnt an issue.

And my opinion, if you read my entire post was that, all cars are good as long as the driver is happy with the choice they made? im happy with mine. your happy with yours. Some arent happy with theirs and will trade it.

sure but some cars would shift by themselves and other cars require people to do the shifting for them.

i am pretty sure my car is not capable of shifting by itself.

My last MT was a '07 Civic SI. It had a very smooth 6 speed. Light clutch and was a lot of fun. My Z is the 7at. I love it also. I have no regrets at all. I don't track my car but I do like to use the paddles and play.

Why would I not want a Ferrari over a GTR? lol I really dont care if a GTR can destroy a Ferrari in the tracks... in the end it is still a Nissan. Plus the Ferrari just looks much more sexy. That's if I can afford both though. Unfortunately I cannot.

So If I could afford a GTR and not the Ferrari then I would just get a Z06. Don't get me wrong though. I love the GTR as much as anyone else here.

Dude, seriously, get off your high horse. You have a 450rwhp car. Kinda quick, but nothing to really brag about. Just because you have a 7AT (no clutch by the way) and all of a sudden it runs so much faster than any other 450rwhp car? Give me a break. I'll walk you with a 350z 6MT on low boost.

Back on topic...you own what you own because you like it. And more power to you.
