I don't have one yet.

The rising gas prices is pushing me away but I am still in love with it and would use it as a DD :)

I just don't see the comparison between a Z and a Mustang though. For me the Z is the perfect sport car design. Small-ish, light, short wheel-base, relatively high reving 6 speed with remarkable handling and great OEM equipment (sport model). Unless you really work the suspensions the mustangs will really only be for cruising and straight line fun (the lower end models, not GT500).

While you're certainly right that the lousy roads are not the car's fault, they are where my car has "live" and it sure detracts from the fun of driving the Z when there is a harsh boom every 10 yards as you drive over every disjointed road seam. Maybe when I replace the stock tires, the new ones will make a difference.

I hear the RE-11's are much better in terms of road noise and perform just as well. In Jersey there are potholes so large and so deep in the middle lane of highways that if you hit it at speed you could easily lose control of the car. Often makes me wonder where's the best place to live for performance driving. Cali has the best weather and roads, but horrible smog testing. The south is too hot in the summer and hinders performance, north-east is awful...I guess i'd take Cali and go through the BS of swapping stock parts back in when I service the car.

I've been out to Cali a few times the roads looked pristine. Maybe the city roads arent as good. But it's hard to get huge potholes all over the place without ice.

Hate to tell you, BUT this is all changing as the state, counties, and cities lapse into funding shortfalls. Potholes do get fixed, but they take longer to do so. We don't have as much construction so the gravel haulers are not as abundant as in the bubble-building days. However, they've been replaced by haulers that look as if they were revived from the salvage yards; most of these dump more gravel on the road than they do the construction site. Add to that our more-than-allocated sh!tty drivers, and things are changing.

No..... I wouldn't. I never got attached like I have to previous cars, and the prActicality has becoming a regular issue.

Where in Jersey are you?

They really aren't that bad here.

Hell, if you go to 55 or the AC Expressway, those roads are basically perfect.

Live in North Jersey and work in central Jersey. I commute about 50 miles each way on 287 daily. Some stretches way up north above I-80 are concrete and those are pristine.

Lol cali roads suck.. Texas has some of the best roads :) the big cities here are so well mentained. Houston is an exception though haha it's ugly there.
Anyways, cops here don't care if you mod the car at all. There's like 10 muscle cars running around with open headers haha

Roads here in GA are always in good shape. Even in the rural areas. Can't be happier there.

To answer the original question, yes I would buy the Z again and again.

If god forbid the car get wrecked or something tomorrow I would get it again. But if something like that happen years down the road I would probably get the new STI Sedan.
