yah but we're not talking about you.

i need 4 seats, got 2 kids and a wife, and stuff to carry at times. can't physically do it with just the Z in my case...and im sure many others with a young family.

Yeah I meant to say that if you don't have such responsibilities and can live with 2 seats and limited cargo space then you can DD the Z with no problem. I probably should have worded it more clearly.

Only with the following conditions:
The availability of the factory oil cooling system standard on the 370Z Middle Eastern model.

Full availability of the many factory options/accessories that Japan has been privy to since day one of the 370Z.

Rear fog lamp as a standard feature.

Also needs to be added to this list:
--Doors that rival a Miata
--Quarter panels more resilient than a WS6
--Handle bars that don't look like they belong on a Frigidaire refrigerator
--VDC parental control locking mechanism

(i kid, i kid. in all honesty, i'm torn 50/50, some days i really miss my S13, and i still really want a GC8 impreza...)

sure, after all, in the 20 years before the 370z I had a 280Z, a 300ZX, another 300ZX and a 350Z. I'm not sure I know how to buy anything else. :driving:

I was actually thinking that a third-door, like the old Saturn, would be nice to access the Owners Manual cubby.

Gunzero 03-04-2011 12:09 PM

Yes, but I should have bought used in white or silver.
Red and black shows swirls like hell.

phelan 03-04-2011 12:11 PM

not enough space on the 370 to do that. i remember those saturns though. i learned how to drive on one. clutch was so forgiving even though i kept mashing gears haha.

don't think you'll ever see a Z with a 3rd door, it's just against the whole nature of the Z imo.

i do agree we should at least get the rear fog lamp standard, and access to some of the cooler parts japan gets. seems weird we get cut out of almost all of the stylizing parts.

my decision would also hinge on what else is available on the market. honestly, if the subie'd FT-86 were available and i had to choose, i'd give bot hthe Z and the subie a good run out and see which one i liked more.

Best statement in this thread yet (other than you wanting to affix your Amuse rear wing to the front of your 370Z). In all honesty, my wife and I would have purchased a Lotus Evora, but it was not out when we purchased the 370Z.

Absolutely. Anything else that performs remotely close to the Z will cose at least $10k more. IMO it's a porsche on a budget. Looks like it (somewhat), has the road noise and simple interior/gauge package/centered tach to go with it. A Cayman-S is still a hair better around a track but it's also nearly twice the pricetag. Some coilovers and brake lines/pads would make them equal (even though a stock Z pulls a 0.99 G skidpad).

I love the car 100%. And I can't speak for the tall guys, but as a weightlifter with a 50" chest I still fit just fine in the seats. Can't fit in a real recaro or Bride but these are fine. If you're over 6'3" or so you may have to customize the seat.

Fifty-fifty here. Z's an excellent value and has beautiful styling and exclusivity but the lousy condition of the roads around here emphasize her harsh ride and road noise, This take's much of the joy out of driving her. Also the thin, delicate paint on this not inexpensive car angers me. For those reasons, it's a close call. I might go with the new Mustang instead.

I'm in NJ and the roads here are also awful and it's a chore to commute even on the highway leaving enough space in between myself and the car in front of me so I can see any potholes coming. But that's the piece of crap climate and lazy public works fault, not the car. Also, if I had the $$ I'd spend some money on a used beater for a DD.

I just don't see the comparison between a Z and a Mustang though. For me the Z is the perfect sport car design. Small-ish, light, short wheel-base, relatively high reving 6 speed with remarkable handling and great OEM equipment (sport model). Unless you really work the suspensions the mustangs will really only be for cruising and straight line fun (the lower end models, not GT500).
