Sorry to hear about the terrible accident. I have a plate & 7 screws in my ankle from a skiing accident in 2006. They're in there for good (unless I have some complications later)... Let me just tell you that you will be itching to drive so bad and it sucks not being able to drive. I attempted driving and even with an auto it's damn near impossible and dangerous because you cant really flex your ankle and you kinda just stomp on the gas. At least you can shop for a new ride while you're laid up.
