Default Is the Z the ugly duck now?

I've seen numerous articles in magazines comparing new sports car models with slightly older models. However, the Z almost never gets mentioned anymore. For example, the FT-86 speculation pegs it agains the BMW 1M and TTS. No Z mention. I've seen this time and again lately with various models. So is the Z an ugly duck now or is it considered to be in some lesser category than the TTS, 1M, FT-86, etc etc?

Well, it's not a world beater in sales numbers, but not even Nissan is really pressing the marketing on it. But it was not hyped all that much last year, either.

It could be that they are comparing 2+2 coupes which is what the BMW 1M, TTS and FT-86 all are.

The Z isn't "fresh" anymore and yeah it's probably mainly a 2+2 comparo. The Z is more in the Cayman/Boxster/Z4 crowd than anything else.

Well with the FT86 there is still a lot of rumors of where it will land, 1M or down with the Gen coupe 2.0T.
The Z hit its stride already and has nothing new to offer from Nissan until an engine update or a style update.

The 370Z had less marketing than the 350Z, however it is the best bang for the buck. I don't care comparision with other cars, I like my 370Z and that's it!

I'm waiting on the FT production version to come out... I hope the interior doesn't look like the prototypes!

I have a hard time believing that toyota will put out a 300HP coupe to compete with the Z. Still, the concept looks nice.

Well, technically it does not need 300HP to compete with the Z but it would require them to meet the weight of 2500lbs.

Catagories and their weight in the overall analysis:

Slalom & Skidpad: 10%

0-60 and 1/4 mile: 20%

Fit, finish, and interior: 10%

Door integrity: 60%

We don't stand a chance.
