i like the car the way it is.
for the money that would be used to modify it, i would rather spend that money to get a more expensive car.

DrEvil 02-12-2011 10:05 PM

This is what is so great about the 370Z. There are so few of them out there( not like Mustangs, Camoros Chargers etc...) , that all of us who own one just like to put a furthur stamp of uniqueness on the car by either leaving it the way Nissan engineers designed it, or improving on greatness. Either way it's an awesome car and all of you, us, have a great time with it, however way you like it!

370zproject 02-12-2011 10:25 PM

does tint count as a mod lol

Exactly, every regular car is always going to be a compromise. It a) has to appeal to a wide audience, b) it has to be relatively inoffensive and compromised because of that target audience, and c) there is a certain issue called cost targets. That is why after market products produce such a drastic difference over OEM parts, these after market companies can focus on each component to maximize its potential and it shows when you can gain 20rwhp with a simple CAI or cat-back exhaust.

Many enthusiasts don't like compromise, like myself, therefore we get rid of the compromising parts. :)

You can email the pic to me and I'll post it for you? If you want? To much to explain how to post it here.

It's true! I had my 3rd set of front shocks installed and I had my SPC rear camber arms/toe bolts installed to get them back into "stock" spec.

See...I made it more stock :)

I am in this club but some how i cant help but feel like I am in the non cool kids club haha.

sonic370 02-14-2011 08:04 PM

Only thing iv'e done is tint and took out crappy sound system...

not that i wouldn't love to add some mods. but i don't have the experience.

plus iv'e heard you never get your money back at trade time..

i love the car just the way it is..... but i wouldn't turn down a few extra HP.

VTZ 02-14-2011 11:35 PM

WOW! I just spent the last 20 minutes laughing my a$$ off reading some of the fun witted posts on this thread. Good stuff.

Question... how do you get a bunch of dudes that like to mod cars to start talking?... discuss NOT modding cars, apparently. :rofl2:

I wonder if junior_jam unsubscribed from his own thread he started.

Well I'm practically in Junior_jam's "stock Z" club. But as a forum member I'm proud to say that I have done a few minor and cheap mods. Probably won't do anything big due to lack of experience and the feeling I won't get anything for it years down the road at re-sale when its time to buy my 400Z. :yum:

Kudos to you Junior Jam for having the balls to stand up and say what you did on a car forum of such a highly glorified tuner car like the Z. It really is a great car, even stock! ... and kudos to all the mod heads out there for the witty come backs!

P.S. - How much more horse power will I get out of the Nismo air freshener that Baer383 mentioned? Is there a DIY for this mod? I'm heavily considering this mod.

A nice cold air intake and a cat back will make you a bunch of extra ponies and won't set you back much.f
For sure less than $2k.

KaienZ34 02-15-2011 08:55 AM

I'm not modding my Z in fears of the "What If" factor. What if i sell it years down the road and it not worth as much. Because i've changed a few things so i could injoy the car a little more, and make it unique to my personal style.

Just messing wit ya. To each his own, as long as you like it that's all that matters.

I love the guys who respond to threads hawking their services as a financial planner.
Last year, my 401k lost an amount equivalent to what I could have spent on wheels, tires and an Amuse kit, but I've got nothing to show for it other than some really depressing statements.
Hmph.

Blasphemy! Everyone knows only Christmas Tree air fresheners add horsepower! And that's only if they are hung from the rear view mirror.

The only thing better is when you tell people how you spent your money and then they try to tell you how they would have spent it instead.

I've not modded it, nor will I ever bother. Several reasons:

I already have more than enough hobbies to keep me busy.

If I wanted a faster/more expensive/better car I'd have bought one off the lot instead of d1cking around for years in my garage.

For some people, d1cking around for years in their garage is their hobby. To each their own.

wishihadnav 02-15-2011 04:15 PM

damn i wanted to stay away from any mods as well..
