This! Haha.

Naa, today's the only day of the week both my girl and I are off together, so we had a lot of stuff to take care of around town. I didn't mind though - got to drive the hell out of the car today. Unfortunately that meant no time for (noodz!! haha jk) pics, but tomorrow... I promise.

Gimme time, guys, gimme time. Every second I have spare I just wanna start the damn thing and take off. After around a hundred miles of driving, I have confirmed to myself... It's f**king AWESOME.

(Oh and a big thanks again for all the congrats' and warm welcome).

Over a year of obsessing and you got red?!? What was wrong with one of the dozen or so shades of gray/silver?

Jk - nice Z. In for pics of it out in the Vegas sun.

By popular demand, here are some more pics of the car, the wife and the Vegas sun.

I tried to get her to go noodz but she outright refused. Soz USMCASA. Frankly, I don't know what her major problem is.

Anyway, these are just more iPhone shots. My bro in law is a photographer so I'll have some real nice pics out on the strip soon.

At Caesar's Palace parking lot:

(Standing out so bright next to all these cars)

(Love the lit-up kick plates)

And here it is in the shining sun on the drive minutes ago (I'll be burying those kids in the desert if their ball hits it).

Thanks! I didn't notice the kid in the back until I moved the pics to the computer. Quite (unintentionally) artistic.

My wife has a near-identical twin! Haha what's funny is I was out with her (the twin) today and a forum member (Ducky, sup man! Nice meetin you) came over asking if I was Super Tanooki. Considering I've never posted pics of myself, I guess he must have recognized the girl and the red car. I had to point out that 'this one isn't my wife'. There's two of them. lol.

Thanks man. And your post count is most impressive I've been on this forum for six months and not even passed the 100 mark yet. Pretty shabby for the daily reader that I am.

Actually, I have a few questions for you peeps. Just silly ones really:

1) Vegas isn't _that_ cold, but on cold mornings how long to you guys let the car tick over before driving off? I always thought the longer the better, but then I read that just driving straight away slowly, which obviously warms the engine up quicker, causes less wear than letting it tick over cold for 10 minutes.

2) I find engaging second gear to be a bit sharp on the bite - I can pull off from still no worries, uphill no worries, I've driven manuals my whole life so I consider myself pretty experienced. But on the Z engaging second gear I sometimes get a bit of a lurch unless I'm SUPER gentle with the clutch release which is a little tedious. Do you guys feel it too? I've never really had this before, but then I've never really had a high-performance car.

3) What little extras/add-ons should I get first? Small shiz like locking wheel nuts (already top of my list)? Which brands of these things are best: Cleaners, polish/wax, oil (ester?), erm.. anything else I need?

4) Someone told me using the Cruise control uses more gas than not. I fail to see how that could be true if the car's just maintain the same speed I would be doing myself, but please do fill me in if I'm wrong...?

5) How much of a hit does the MPG take when the AC is on with the Z? Also, I presume when it blows hot it's not using any gas because it's using hot water from the rads, right?

6) I f--cking span the wheels in THIRD yesterday. THIRD GEAR. I was like WTF? I really didn't expect it to spin up. Do I need to change the tires? Are the standard ones sh-t?

7) Where are the VEGAS PEOPLE?! I wanna get involved in this Vegas Z Club I hear about. I'm really happy to be a part of this community - I was excited about getting a Z before I knew it came attached to such an awesome and enthusiastic community. Now I just look forward to becoming more integrally involved.

8) Any general tips guys? Any pointers on operation, cleaning, or just driving tips in general? Just anything you can share with an enthusiastic new owner. I'm used to knowing how to drive my cars hard, knowing how to reach near-limits without being overly dangerous (used to have a Civic Type-R in London, great fun), but the Z is considerably more powerful so a little daunting.

Thanks for any and all your input guys.

here you go, tanooki-

>1) Vegas isn't _that_ cold, but on cold mornings how long to you guys let

give it a good 30sec and drive off. no need to warm up the car, especially not unless you're sub -20F. just drive gently until the water temp is up to about middle and your oil temp is around 180F. that's about when is start pushing it pretty gooooood.

>2) I find engaging second gear to be a bit sharp on the bite - I can pull off

just give it a touch of gas as you normally do when you engage to maintain flywheel momentum. just drive gently and you'll get the hang of it. the clutch appears to engage around the middle but it starts engaging pretty low near the floor.

>3) What little extras/add-ons should I get first? Small shiz like locking wheel

wheel locks could help, but if your car's parked out doors get an aftermarket alarm system with tilt sensor. that will deter most theives trying to steal your wheels. as far as wax, i use Griot's Garage and Prima stuff.

Car Care, Detail Supplies, Garage Organization, Car Accessories - Griot's Garage 800-345-5789

or go to Phil's shop, he's a vendor here and carries Prima stuff:
www.detailersdomain.com

>4) Someone told me using the Cruise control uses more gas than not. I fail

usually it uses less as it's computer controlled rather than lead-foot of new excited Z-er.

>5) How much of a hit does the MPG take when the AC is on with the Z?

no idea, but my AC is on all the time...well, in auto-mode.

>6) I f--cking span the wheels in THIRD yesterday. THIRD GEAR. I was like

new tires require breakin to remove release oil from the mold. it's also possible your tires are still cold. keep psi 35-37 cold (measure in the morning in your garage or before sun comes up cause heat from sun will increase psi and throw off your readings).

>7) Where are the VEGAS PEOPLE?! I wanna get involved in this Vegas Z

no idea.

>8) Any general tips guys? Any pointers on operation, cleaning, or just

nissan paint is soft so use the softest clay you can find (i use Griot's mud-like yellow clay only on nissan paint) and use 2 bucket method when washing your car in the shade. learn more in the detailing section.
