Interesting news and I definitely think the rumor has validity. Emission regulations and everything else included, it makes sense. Even with all of that, the class that the 370 competes in seems to be in somewhat of a horsepower war. Going past the 350hp mark for the base, and bumping up against 400 for the Nismo will probably attract more buyers even with a small price increase.
If this is true, I will be a little annoyed and definitely wish I had the DI. |

Instead of a power gain how about making the Z a lighter car? That way the Z will be faster and have better fuel economy.

if the next Z motor is as a big improvement as the current one is over the 350
everything will be fine. we all won't to compare the 370 with the v8 camaro and 5.0 mustang but imho that's not a fair comparison. the 370 appeals to select few and always will. the other two are bloated muscle cars. |

Looks like Some people are expecting miracles from DI. The VQ37 already has a specific output that can compete with the best NA engines out there, including DI engines. 89.7 hp/l for the regular Z and 94.6 for the Nismo. Only Porsche (911) and Ferrari engines have a higher specific output, they also rev a lot higher then our VQ. Even the Cayman S "only" makes 94.1 hp/l with DI

I think regardless it being a nismo or base the power output will be pretty close like they are now. Nothing against nismos, but nismos is not much of an upgrade from a sport.
