Mike, that's great. You might as well just post some prices and make a group buy. There is at least a handful of people looking for a solution. I'm excited to see your setup. Brake ducting will be your second selling niche for our cars. Obviously you guys have some more pressing deadlines at the moment though...

I should have made it more clear that I said first and foremost because the rear % is the reason we made the decision, not the starve issue. We would have been able to modify the stock tank to alleviate the stumbling, but we'd still be dealing with the weight distribution issue.

Thanks dude! We're working on making an affordable version of our brake duct system that works with our brake kit, and it should be available sometime this summer. As for the tank, we just had a meeting, and we will have two solutions to offer.

First option is the full race setup that I already talked about. This is not cheap, but if you are building a full race car, it is the right option, in terms of weight distribution, fuel pickup, and crashworthiness. This is for our full on racers, Grand Am, World Challenge, etc.

Option two is something a little less radical, and is a perfect option for the track day and autocross kind of guys. We will be designing and engineering a surge tank that drops into the stock tank and uses the stock pumps as lift pumps to keep the surge tank full. This will be a little less effective than the full cell, but will certainly be more affordable and is perfect for the more casual track driver.

We'll be able to get prices out after we finish our race cars, run a couple races and finally have a little time to make some prototypes and price them out.

Thanks!

Mike

spearfish25 03-11-2011 11:12 AM

^awesome. I'd very likely be 'in' for the second option. Looking forward to following you guys this season.

ChrisSlicks 03-11-2011 11:48 AM

Put me down for an in-tank surge tank when you get it, sounds like it would be perfect for HPDE, time-trial setup.

In for updates. Glad to see the 370 in some racing!

You absolutely should! The racing in Grand Am is awesome, and Barber is one of the nicest places you could ever watch a race at. Also, fans are ALWAYS welcome in our pit! Just find the A.M. Performance transporter and say hi.

We'll let you know as soon as we have a set available, it shouldn't be more than a month or two.

Thanks for all the interest guys! It's getting really exciting around here, the car runs and will be on the ground and ready to roll in the next few days, and we are getting set up to start our retail program so you guys can throw our sweet parts on your cars and go do rad stuff.

In the meantime, though, I need your help! I am trying to raise as much money as I can to fund research for the cure of leukemia and lymphoma this season. 100% of all donations goes directly to charity, and all you have to do is click here and donate whatever you can:

Do u have a list of what you guys will be selling once the retail store opens?

Mike@AMPerformance 03-24-2011 05:43 PM

Yep, the initial catalog is up on the main website front page. Click on "A.M. Performance Parts" on the left side of the page.

We'll be adding parts as we finish the prototype phase on each one, but the list you see there should all be available by the end of the summer. Prices will be set for each piece once they are ready for production, but our aim is to offer superior product at competitive prices by having smaller margins and good relationships with our suppliers through our racing efforts.

Thanks!

Mike

I saw you guys are going to have a clutch/flywheel kit coming out, what are you going to do about the problematic csc that seems to be breaking for everyone

Our kit includes an aluminum hydraulic release bearing (which is just another name for CSC) that is designed and produced in-house. This piece will be available both for the full clutch kit, and will also be a direct bolt-in for the stock clutch (in case you don't want to upgrade the clutch, but want to remove a failure point).

Thanks!

Mike

NewYorkJon34 03-24-2011 06:28 PM

Wow that's big news, I plan on going with the GTM stg.2 supercharger which IMO will produce about 450-500whp with supporting mods. Do you have a clutch that can handle that?, csc failure free :)

Hey Mike, just a suggestion. Maybe all of you involved that have usernames on here could add your website address to your profile, that way we can click on your name and select your website.

I'm getting real excited to see you guys race. Especially after that good fortune of the Nissan team in LMP2 at Sebring. Proud to have some of your old parts in my car (and laundry room and storage room and...). :tiphat:

Once you get retail parts available, then you'd definitely want to become a sponsor on here. We LUUB our sponsors!

Yes. Headers/full systems for the exit will be available, and several different levels of performance will be available on the entry side of things. I'll post some photos tomorrow of the full race setup we are finalizing right now.

Update 4/4/11

This weekend A.M. Performance will be making their much anticipated debut at Barber Motorsports Park, Barber 200. They will be demonstrating the exciting new capabilities of their Nissan 370z NISMO's, which they have meticulously and relentlessly built from the bottom up, developed new parts, and tuned everything to harmony. This thread has shown the team's determination and diligence in creating the most exciting new race cars out there, and we will continue brining more great updates from the team. Since we missed last week's update and the team is about to race, there will be a double update within the next couple of days, this being the first. You can also stay connected with the team through their mailing list. Those who sign up will receive race results, what's happening at the shop, what they are doing, what they are making, and probably some pretty cool videos involving race cars doing pretty cool stuff.
