Yeah, we weren't able to get the right style in the right offset in time for Barber. That will be rectified for VIR, it was purely a supply-chain issue.

The team did a great job today; qualifying ahead of all the Porsches. Picked up a T-shirt and a couple pics with my phone. Race tomorrow!

I was saying that it was in progress and that was how they were running at the moment. :)

CrownR426 04-09-2011 01:53 PM

Can we get some videos on the track?
I'm very interested in seeing how this combination performs.

NewYorkJon34 04-09-2011 02:04 PM

Mike, did you guys put in racing seats? if so how did you set-up your harnesses?

Sick

takjak2 04-09-2011 07:43 PM

The team had a few good laps today but unfortunately expired early in the race. They got lots of data which they're pleased with and I'm sure will help them continue to improve on an already very fast car. They manged to move from P20 to 11th and Mike was only a few hundredths of a second off from the lead cars' pace (despite being in the traffic). I'll post pics of the Z in action after dinner.

ChrisSlicks 04-09-2011 09:15 PM

Too bad about the engine problem, Mike had good pace and was making up lots of positions. Once you get these teething problems out of the way the car is going to be a killer.

I have a few more pics of specific parts that are being marketed soon but I'm holding those closeups for now. Much luck to Mike and the team in their next events!

Thanks for the pics! Very cool (except the towing, and problems.. ) Good luck to the AM guys.

Next Saturday on speed. The schedule is on the grand-am site. Several races are live and several are tape delayed like the Barber 200.

Any info on the failure? Was it fuel related?

i wonder what the nature of the cooling issue was? You know they were running a oil cooler

They may have underestimated the amount of oil cooling required in VQ's. With my oil cooler (which is one of the largest Setrab cores) I only can get about 10 laps of driving flatout at maximum RPM's on a hot day on a fast track. Cooler days or tracks with more mid-speed corners it is fine.

I think I read in their build info that they were using an oil to water cooler, hence allowing the radiator to do most of the work. Not sure if that was a supplement to an oil to air cooler or if that was the only cooling mechanism.

how many rows is yours? I hope it was the only cooler they were running, that way they can add a nice oil cooler to the mix. The oil to water system is nice for mild to medium, DD, track time, but for a race applications its just not enough plus given the oil temps issues with the 370Z....the 350Z had a similar oil to water system that was really effective

72 row, half width. If I added a supplemental oil/water cooler I think I would never have a problem again. It wasn't worth the hassle to me given the types of events I go to.

zzdudaka 04-13-2011 07:09 PM

I hope they re-air it. I would like to watch some. I had to work and forgot to set the dvr
