from my understanding of the article it seems like a lot of the proposed solutions on this thread wont prevent people stealing the car. it seems like what they're doing

from my understanding of the article it seems like a lot of the proposed solutions on this thread wont prevent people stealing the car. it seems like what they're doing is tricking the key into thinking the car is nearby (hence the guy within 8 meters) the key then sends out the unlock/ignition verification which is then transmitted to a wireless transmitter which fools the car into thinking the key is right there and starts the ignition.
