Have you thought about parting out the aftermarket parts to make enough money to buy a daily driver and be able to keep the z since you have all of the stock parts? even if you decide to sell the z down the road you would probably get closer to a fair price for it. The problem I see with selling a modified car is that only a small portion of people are wanting that and probably even fewer would have the cash on hand to purchase. To secure a loan for that price the car would never cover the loan and most banks would not do it because of the resale value. Hell I would be willing to trade a DD (05 durango) for all of the after market parts in about 4-5 months. Either way congrats on the family and GLWS!

I sterilize it with a zippo

kenchan 01-01-2011 09:41 PM

op- congrats.

btw, get a dd... just find any used suv/minivan to suite your 5 passenger needs and use that for now, keep your Z.

Carno 01-01-2011 10:50 PM

Kids take 9 months to **** out, why are you selling it now?

Brazilbro 01-01-2011 11:08 PM

First thing I did when my wife got prego was sell my evo and got the 370.. No kids in my car.. thats what your wife/gf's car is for! Last thing I wanted was a 400 hp evo with a baby seat in the back :shakes head: Make her get the car or you get a cheap DD . what reason do u have to have baby in the car with you without your girl? just use her car for child transport .

Junior370z 01-01-2011 11:48 PM

Here's my youngest riding in the Z. My boy loves riding in it lol! It legal plus he falls asleep so fast because the bounce and the exhaust note! I would keep the Z bro!

For 45gs Im getting a low mileage z06, but thats just me. Good luck man.

Thank you guys for the inputs... I'm really thinking about just adding a second "safe" car/suv and keeping the Z. I'll see how the sale goes. I'll be posting the car on ebay/auto trader/ cars.com/ and forums.

I haven't even enjoyed the car yet, and I get hit with the news... on new years day lol. THAT SUCKS!

That is the best choice you can make. Have you thought of a little scion? There are many options out there.

Lug 01-02-2011 03:02 PM

Mustang GT. You'll still get decent performance plus have money left over for ...um...er...diapers and shite.

:D

RCZ 01-02-2011 03:03 PM

You're better off parting out and selling everything and then selling the car separately. Selling modded cars is not easy and you rarely get what you want for it.

On the bright side, congratulations!

ProfessorDave 01-02-2011 03:31 PM

You will not drive your Z much with kids. Especially as they get to be toddlers, and you take them everywhere. But since you like performance and forced induction, I'd say go get a Mazdaspeed3. Fast and safe. Or an STI (which has already been suggested).

This is all assuming that finding an affordable DD is not a viable option. If that's the case, go get a Fit, Mazda2, Fiesta, etc.

mick 01-02-2011 04:28 PM

in my mind, a STI with a child seat doesn't look right :)

Christmas time always was the shittiest time of year for me. That is why I demanded that I work over the holiday weekends. If **** goes wrong, at least I'm in the hospital. Yeah, stuff did. Both my Dad and step-mom had cardiac issues this holiday, my debit card # was mis-used by someone, and my japcrapmobile is suffering from transmission issues now I think.

Anyway, just don't do **** around the holidays. If there were a way to edit/delete this time of year, I would. Life would kick so much more *** without Xmas.

My point is--don't make a mistake and sell your favorite toy until you have thought this all out or you will add another shitty move to this yearly slump. Stop. Think. Plan. You can overcome this. Give it a couple months of thought. Right now your girl is probably going into this nutty nesting phase where all they do is yammer about "when the baby..." and she has her head in babyville and life is all on pause. Seen it before. No way to beat it. Well, in my state there is, but maybe not yours. The point being, wait until she comes off cloud 9 and you can get some sense in her and buy a 2000's era SUV for cheap and make everyone happy and still keep your Z.

Just my .02 from watching this same thing play out over and over and over with everyone I know around here.

All you have to do is save $500 a month between the two of you and you can land a very nice DD that is kidfriendly. Of course, your girl is going to try and push all this **** on you and make you sell the Z and foot the entire bill, but you need to not give in to that kind of abuse. It's just as much her baby as it is yours.

I think this is your best option. I actually was in the process of shopping for my Z when I found out my wife was pregnant. Luckily I already had a daily driver.

Just get the recaro seats and they look right at home. :D. Actually I was very close to getting the 09 hatch STI as my dd. Its got plenty of foot well space so that the kid doesn't kick the front seatbacks and wide enough for them to get in out quickly on their own.

I just remembered the shitty subarooroo service and craftsmanship of my 02 WRX and bailed.

EazyD 01-02-2011 09:52 PM

I just saw the 370Z->Maxima commercial tonight :/

Smartest thing you've said since you've been on these forums.

wolf370z 01-02-2011 11:45 PM

Wow man congratulations!

Keep the car. Try to convince her the amount of money you would LOSE by selling it immediately and so rashly, when she herself hasn't even let reality hit her yet, wouldn't be somehow "redeemed" or "set right" when you buy a "safe" car/SUV.

I wish you the best, but you're probably not moving a used TT 40th Z for 45k. It could be especially hard this time of the year.

But you may have more luck selling in the spring time, when people will be looking for a sports car, and when less 40ths are sitting on lots. Even then, I don't know about 45k.

But congrats on the new addition to the fam!!!!

I love the car and I'd hate to see it go....

WTF is it with people who have a kid? All of a sudden everything they enjoy has to go, that is a pathetic attitude. Is the Mrs driving this behaviour/thoughts? For goodness sake men in today's society are not men, they have lost their way and they really got in touch with their female side!!

I just don't know what a TT 370z would retail for with all the mods I've done already

Friigin SUV's? Just tell her that SUVs' are more likely to roll in a maneavour situation due to the high roll centre. C'mon stop being a pussy and put your foot down, otherwise you're going to be pussy whipped the rest of your life with her.

Haha, very funny! MX5 and 370 are my two favourite cars, and I am currently tossing it over in my head whether to sell the MX5 that i love and get the 370 which I also love. Can't afford both, damn it!

It's called "adulthood".

Don't worry, most men make it out on the other side and drive a vette.

My concern is that I have literally taken METICULOUS care of my MX5 and if I do take the plunge and become a man again I might regret the loss of the MX, then i would have to sell the z and buy a new mx again. Although I have driven the 370z both manual and auto, i have to say the manual felt more alive, more involving than the auto which to me seemed to hang onto gears once you took your foot off the accelerator after a little spirited acceleration.

Adulthood does not = the desire to add to the over-population of the planet with your own spawn just because you have some deluded idea that someday they will be president/fix everything/make it better.

Kids are expensive, and when they happen, society frowns on making them take a back seat to things that were around before them. Like your car, etc.

"something's gotta give", so to speak.
