You mean the lawyer hired asks for an extension of the court date then the judge just dismisses it after?

Worst ticket was "80" in a 65, bumped to 75. I went to court for it (already had been to traffic school in the past two years at that time, I go about every two years it seems, lol).

Probably would have gotten it dropped, but the judge said, "You never did state how fast you really were going." and upheld it.

Live and learn.

I've gotten off with warnings on far worse though, somehow. Pulled over by MCSO for 100 in a 65 (more like 45 since it was an interchange curve) and I played the BS story that I was nervous next to the semi-truck and wanted to get by ASAP.

He told me that he was on his way home and just to drive safe.

The lawyer reschedules it (sometimes multiple times), the cop doesn't show up on the new date, the judge throws it out. Sometimes it works. Other times my lawyer got them to agree to let me take defensive driving when I otherwise couldn't. Mine charges whatever the ticket would have cost me. If you've got a clean driving record you can sometimes talk the judge into it yourself. Wear a suit.

Hmm that makes sense. I've had 2 other citations in the past 5 years but all got dismissed due to Defensive Driving so I guess my record is clean? Idk if it still shows up that I have those on record or not. Hopefully not though. And will do. My court date is March 6th or 8th but I'm going to the court Monday morning to see if I can just try to get away with taking Defensive Driving and if not just that I'll do probation. I'll dress a little more business casual with that

And also thanks for all the help Chuck. I really appreciate it. Helps alot when not alot of people are encouraging about it just telling me I'm pretty much screwed. I like to think there might be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel haha

80mph or faster or 20mph over (whichever comes first) is criminal in these parts and will land you in jail.

Though, we have 75mph speed limits just outside of town. I've not heard how this affects that (since it's okay to go ~9 over without being ticketed most of the time).

All in all, it depends on the situation and the officer. Some are complete dicks (like my friends Dad) and others are the nicest people in the world.

Caught via lidar doing 50 in a 35 leaving work by an angry female officer who had one of her index fingers bitten off by a junkie (lidar guns must not have triggers). It was my first time ever getting pulled over since getting my license (6 years) and she still gave me a ticket.

Saw the magistrate 6 months later and told him I wasn't speeding, and he let me go without asking a single question.

Not a bad ticket, but the worst part was seeing all my coworkers drive by. It's been a year and the "pump your brakes, Speed Racer!" jokes haven't stopped.

Really? I would literally be shi77ing my pants if I got caught doing that. I'd already have tears down my face by the time he got to my window. I can just imagine my life flashing before my eyes!

Default Vegas trip ticket

Well,me and the wife took the Z to Vegas for my Uncles memorial service. We have had the car since November and never had a chance to see what it could do on an open road. We live in AZ, so it's about an 5 hour drive. Got it up to 147mph on the GPS, and all was going good until we came up over this hill and saw the DPS car on the side of the road. He got me on radar at 99mph,
but wrote it as civil not criminal speeding. Looks like Ill be taking the online driving school.

Must have been great fun while getting to 147 in the twin turbo Z, at least. How much was the ticket?

I would expect to pay a lot more than that now. 99mph on the 5fwy in SoCal, you'd be looking at $400-500. Might not be as bad in AZ or NV. But 87mph got me $349 I think it was or $389. If you take traffic school, add to that. Costs are brutal now.

I got a ticket in Vegas for doing 5 over and it was almost $200.00 I don't want any more tickets out here.

I have two I would consider "Worst tickets" from two standpoints.

Ticket #1:
If you live in NC, you need to get inspected every year to get registered. I have darker tint than legal (approx 15-20% for NC which we will get to in ticket 2 ) and had a rear mount turbo which gave me spurious MAF codes. Which means you gotta do some work to get a passed inspection. It was 2 weeks before I was set to deploy and my reg ran out, because I was gearing up to leave and didnt want to mess with my car to reg it for a week. While I was driving it to get it stored, I got pulled over by Military police. After I plead my case, he wrote me up for expired Reg. I sent the money in no problem. I found out though that it got returned (dunno why?) while I was overseas and never got processed. Which brings me to ticket #2.

Ticket #2
Days after the aforementioned deployment and getting my car registered again, I decide i am going to drive my 350 up to Ohio to see my fam. I dont know if you guys ever have driven up 77 North, but that drive is nice (many curves and hills). Problem is though once you hit a certain point in VA, its nothing but traffic and police. Its starting to rain heavily which made traffic even worse on this particular day. It was bumper to bumper traffic going the speed limit when I see flashing lights behind me. I got over thinking he was trying to get by me because I wasnt doing anything illegal. NOPE, the officer was trying to pull ME over . I quote: "Do you know why I pulled you over" he says. "Not a clue" I say as hes getting out his window opacity meter. Yeah he pulled me over in bumper to bumper traffic for my 18% tint...... . Not only that but I had my deployment paperwork with me, Military ID with me, and it was my birthday. His response to that was, "Ok, ill get you out of here real quick with a ticket". OH THANK YOU for expediting my ticket process fellow service member.... . After writing the ticket he comes back and tells me my license is suspended (I had no clue) because of the ticket number 1 mishap.
This scared me more than anything, I received a court date and got everything dropped before the court started by talking to the members of the court, thank goodness.

Also Ive probably been pulled over about 15 times in one area of NC and always just ask for license and reg and im on my way though. I always ask the officers why and a couple told me because Im driving at 2-3 am (to work) and I have a "suspicious looking vehicle" Does anyone else get this?
