Seriously, this is the kind of crap I'd expect to see some 19-year-old kid have on a car at Hot Import Nights. Why the hell couldn't they just leave the car alone and put the performance parts in it? This is why it's so hard to make an argument for an M3. The 335i just looks so much better, and since it's turbocharged, you can make huge power out of a reflash.

Those are the only people I know who own 1-series cars. They are usually murdered out and have a tune and a few bolt-ons. That, and the gay guy I used to work with who optioned a 1-series out to about 53K OTD I think it was, lol ('vert, and every option they had).

What little things bothered you? The corvette has always been one of my favorite cars and congrats on buying one!

I am curious how you are liking the interior of the 'vette. I think the Z had a MUCH! better interior, based on the ones I drove vs. the 'vettes. I would be curious to hear what someone who has owned both cars, and lived with them on a daily basis for a while has to say regarding the quality of the interior.

Lay-out, features, that's all personal. I am curious what you think of the fit/finish. The way things do (or don't) flex/bend/creak when you press/sit/lean on tham. The way the seats are holding up. That sort of thing.

I have only been a passenger in a vette. I love the Z and the interior is better, that is why I asked him what bothered him about the Z. The new vette has always been a good looking car but personally I prefer the the Z.

I would love the performance of a Z06, but I can't fathom paying 70-90k for the interior of the 'vette. Also, not many people would realize a vette is a $90k car.

Honestly the interior of the new vettes are good. I would say the vette and Z are equal in the interior quality now (still not up to what my Audi interior was). Looks like they used about the same type of product for the dash and all and has a good amount of leather now. They also have alot of nice aftermarket upgrades for color matching the interior in leather too. Gauges are very clear and at an angle that you can see them all. Seats are leather but a little on light side for weight reduction. But seems to be on par with sports car seats and are comfortable. Controls on the steering wheel and I have the very base model so the other models will have even more. Top comes off and has a lock down spot in the rear area so it wont move around while driving. Love the top off ride. The ride is smoother and in the Z when going fast and going over slight humps in the road it felt like it was lifting up, not in the vette it hugs the road always. Less road (way less but still some) noise and no high rev harsh engine noise. The stock non bose stereo is better than the bose I had in the Z. The power is always there but not in a way that it feels like you are zooming all the time. When driving normal it feels like any other car power wise, it cruises at 1500 rpms in all gears. At 70 mph im at 1400 rpms. I can get 26/27 mpg on the highway at those rpms. But any time I want to go, the power is there and when you floor it, you get that slight hesitation cuz its an auto and then ZOOM you are feeling the tq and power. Maybe with some mods the hesitation will decrease and this thing can handle lots of added power.

The things I was getting tired of in the Z were the paint, road noise, rattles starting to appear all over, suspension felt like it was getting worse and I had only 25K miles on the car. Felt the bumps like crazy. These are areas that one can live with if you want to. The main reason was I wanted more power and a car that can handle a SC with no worries about the tranny.

The Z body shape is awesome tho, one of my favorites.

Wish I could afford the Z06 too, the guys that have them in the forum say they are a NA beast. 1 yr old used ones can be got for 60K.

The ZR1 w/SC is a 100K+. MSRP but you can get vettes way under MSRP.

A girl I know just traded in an IS250 and got a totally optioned out 128i convertible. I asked her about the 135i and she said it was a huge increase in price. Regardless, her car wasn't cheap.

I showed the pictures of the 135i to a friend of mine and he said it looked like someone was playing around with the custom bodykit function on a Need For Speed game, lol.

Hopefully they've improved the seats, because the last C6 Vette I sat in seemed to be lacking in that area. GM has tons of crap seats because they seem to be totally married to Lear as a seat supplier. There's a reason you've never heard of Lear before. Because they don't make good seats.

They seem to be as comfortable as the Z so far. Time will tell how they hold up tho.

I just read through this whole thread and the one about the Cayman.
How is it that all "Z vs. ________" threads turn into a discussion about Corvettes?

I need to respond to these threads in a more timely manner.
Then I can use my new acronym, IBTV.

It's the gold-standard for raw, RWD performance in an affordable package. Everything else must thus be compared.

Kindof like in the late 90's/early 2000's when everyone compared everything to the LS1 like it was a car, lol (They still do, at least, I do, considering most LS1 cars still hang with/beat most new cars in the 40K and less range)

IMHO your not comparing apples to apples. BMW vs Nissian theres a big price difference.. i'm just as guilty taking the 370 for granted thinking the grass is greener on the other side.. with the 370 nissian hit it out of the park.

most of the cars people talk about trading for don't look half as good imo.

Yessss... IMO, the Z is definitely the best-looking car in its price range. There's really not anything close.

fairladyZ34 12-14-2010 04:43 PM

for BMWs its M3 or nothing to me.
