I find the brake / accelerator pedal transition awkward and I think it is partly because of the hinge on the bottom, and partly the height difference - not so easy to slide from light braking to slight acceleration or maybe it's the other way around

I for one like it; it makes heel/toe shifting easier - I don't have to twist my leg as much. Mebbe I'm cheating? ![]()

There is no issue, just personal preference. I like it the way it is.

Isn't heel-toe kind of redundant with sync-rev?

it is. he must have the non-sport package trim.
i use the side of my foot to blip throttle on organ pedals. i learned that over 10yrs ago when i had my MINI cause that was my first car with the floor pivoting gas pedal. just takes practice. hell, even on traditional pedal setups i use the side of my foot since i dont need the full braking power on street. |

I wonder what the reasoning behind where they put the pivot point is. I was doing a little bit of googling and didn't find much but it does appear that fly by wire accelerators tend to typically have the pivot point at the bottom because that is where the electronics are that send the engine the data. I don't see why that couldn't be moved in a design but it also appears that higher end car manufacturers are trending to the pivot point at the bottom as well. There must be some reason this performs better otherwise why would they go there?
