Nissan 370Z Forum

Said Bye to the Z tonight!

I really like the CRZ. Congratulations. I'm sure the aftermarket world will jump on it very quickly.

wow the CRZ did not fair well with Motor Trends Car of the Year Comp.
2011 Car of the Year Testing Facility - Motor Trend

Quote:
3. HIGH-SPEED LOOP
Three lanes; 6.4 miles Smooth surface and long, constant-radius turns enable evaluation of engine noise and transmission shift quality under hard acceleration. High speeds test suppression of wind noise and tire roar, as well as vehicle steering and stability at high speed.
MOST REFINED: Audi A8
LEAST REFINED: Honda CR-Z

4. FREEWAY SURFACES
One lane; 1.25 miles
Sectioned into exact replicas of L.A.'s notoriously choppy 710, 10, and 5 freeways, and taken at a steady 65 mph, this section allows evaluation of vehicle ride quality as well as transmitted tire noise and suspension thump.
SMOOTHEST: Toyota Avalon
ROUGHEST: Honda CR-Z

6. SPECIAL SURFACES
17 surfaces; 0.75 mile
Has a mixture of typical distressed road surfaces, from broken asphalt to potholes to deep corrugations to rail crossings. Used for assessing noise from suspension and detecting rattles and squeaks from the body and interior.
TIGHT AND TAUT: Audi A8
RATTLER: Honda CR-Z

Contender: Honda CR-Z
No CRX, no calipers
WE LIKE: Manual gearbox, handling potential, tadpole-position styling.
WE DON'T LIKE: Too much of a compromise; performance tradeoff for marginal green gains.

I like those CR-Z but would never trade in my Z, I on the other hand would love to add.

However, I can understand the route you took !!

be like FT86 vs CRZ = AE86 vs Accord wagon carrying a bed.

Hmmm. JDM bed is small, so very little aerodynamic or weight penalty for the Accord.

You can thank the government and stricter standards for emissions, fines, etc. Don't blame Honda for trying to get ahead of the inevitable curve. They also kept Nissan on their toes with the S2000, which the 350Z was most comparable to in most aspects, regarding the cars available at the time in that price range in that market segment. Maybe you should thank Honda?

It's not so bad. I went from 350 horsepower to 145. True, I plan on buying another sports car next year, but every car has it's "cool" attributes.

Well people's lives change, their priorities change. They get divorced, married, have a kid or a dog, lose their job, move across the country etc. That's why I like the Jag, sure it corners like a train, but 0-60 it's about the same exact speed as the Z, and gets comparable mileage too.

If Honda would have stuck closer to the smooth lines of the CRZ concept, I would have bought it over the Z. But it was too different. Also, power and mpg was lower than I expected. But it's still a sweet looking car, and in my top 5 under $25K car list.

Yeah. The DC Metro area is kind of isolated from the rest of the US. Our unemployment rate is only around 6.5% due to so many government jobs and it's just a very rich area. 8 of the 10 richest counties in the US are in the DC Metro area. Our pizza delivery guys drive brand new 335is.
