Nice Zed, couldn't help notive the two trucks around your Zed, seems like the majority of Americans drive these behemoths, sad if this is the case. Sorry about your car, though it does seem like THAT could get fixed to 100% though. it is not TOO bad.

looks like a shark took a bite out of it. I know what you mean about a repair, but honestly, that isn't really too bad. All of those panels and the hood can be easily replaced since its just bolted on. Have it replaced with genuine parts and she'll be good as new. It really depends a lot on which repair shop you go to. You should at least consider researching for a high end, high quality body shop that can do the job well, unless of course you don't mind taking a hit from the resale value (no pun intended).

You could always get insurance money and buy a Amuse front bumper or any other one your interested in. Take it to a positive look As for resale price, it shouldn't really matter unless your one of those who has money to spend on a new car every time a new model comes out.

67 really isn't that old. i agree that at a certain age seniors should be tested to ensure they can see/hear and have all the necessary awareness to drive. however, i don't really think that at 67 you should have to be taking a drivers test every 4 years, just because you are 'old' even though i dont think 67 is OLD. its not young, but its not like 80. people who are in their 70's that don't let themselves go, are often in pretty good shape in both mind and body. it isn't really until 80's where things start to deteriorate. but either way, if you stay active it prevents deterioration of the mind and body.

i think at 65, people should have to take an exam to evaluate their sight, just a simple physical to evaluate their senses. at that point, they are either cleared till they are 75 if they meet all requirements, and if not, they have to get tested in 2-4 years again t and ensure they are fit to drive.

Age is just a number... there are many 80-year-olds that are more with it than some in their 50-60's. You have to factor in smoking history, diabetes, and a whole number of things that will effect one's ability to drive. There are many diseases that can lead to dx of vascular dementia, or retinopathy that would vastly effect the ability of a driver to see and react to changing situations.

Sure... Except when it is. Some people are spry and fit at age 67, and some can barely walk upright. Most people at that age (at least in this country) are somewhere in between... Laws have to be written so that they can be enforced uniformly and fairly. When people begin to experience loss of ability due to age, often enough that happens quickly. Much better to cut off problems at the onset, then wait until they've gotten so bad that the driver is putting people at risk every time they get behind the wheel.

Accidents can happen to anyone, and I've seen people I consider excellent drivers blow through stop signs, hit curbs, light poles, other cars, whatever. It may be that this woman's failure had nothing to do with her age... Still, it's clear that aging does have an affect on people's reaction times and acuity. At 67 this woman ran a red light, and her driving ability is suspect. It should be evaluated.

Personally, I'd like to see road tests every 4 years for everyone, regardless of age... so long as it's covered by the ridiculous amount of money I'm already paying to get my license renewed. Sure it's inconvenient, but some people just plain can't drive, and they should be removed from the road so they are not a threat to themselves and (more importantly) everyone else. The United States has some of the most lax requirements for getting a driver's license in the western world... It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we had to follow the example of other countries, like Sweden:

Driver's License in Sweden

In 2000, there were 12.3 deaths by automobile per 100,000 people in the U.S.. By comparison, Sweden had only 4.3 deaths per 100,000 people. We killed 3x as many people with our cars, per person, than they did. I think we have something to learn.

She was probably busy texting a facebook status update.

I doubt age had anything to do with it, she was either distracted or has a history of running reds.

67 is not that old, and your car suffered cosmetic damage that the insurance company will fix. Peh.

PCH & Balboa in Newport Beach is a terrible intersection, I've seen too many close calls in that in exact location. I think it has to do with the differing speeds of cars merging from each direction.

If you're looking for a shop to fix it this thread may be helpful:

Default Defiantly agree!!!!

Rui Z sorry about your car.

Last year I had a little old lady run a stop sign and almost hit me in my week old Z.
It was so close that I thought we had at least traded paint.
She didn't even see me and kept on going like nothing happened!!!
I stopped so hard and fast I stalled my Z.
If I hadn't seen her when I did I would have defiantly hit her.
