Well, you're right about the LS2 being fazed out, but according to the following, there won't be a Z28, just the 1SS and 2SS:

2010 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS 2dr Coupe Trim Comparisons
2010 Chevrolet Camaro Options - 2010 Chevy Camaro Packages - Motor Trend Magazine
2010 Chevrolet Camaro Fuel Economy Figures and Option Packages Released - Car News/Corvette/Camaro Corner/High Performance/Hot Lists/Reviews/Car and Driver - Car And Driver

I'm not quite sure where I saw the LS2 info though. May have been something I thought I saw. However, according to this:
http://krang.superchevy.com/features...ifications.pdf
There doesn't seem to be a Z28 package at all. It MAY happen, though with a big increase in HP (and hopefully better handling if GM gets their heads out of their @sses) as already mentioned.

There isn't one yet but it wasn't planned to be here immediately; it's supposed to come later.

I'll be impressed if GM makes it to that stage. I'd prefer that they didn't go under, but it'd be there own doing that would make that a reality.

Haha!! The legend dies. :D

Alright I officially admit to liking this car now. :tiphat:

BanningZ 03-29-2009 07:15 PM

After the initial afterglow of seeing a final product was over, all I started seeing was an 85' SS Monte Carlo with some smoothed lines.

Whoa, I wouldn't hve made that jump, but I see it. I like the SS monte carlo more, lol. I'm sure a lot lighter :D

BrokenVow 03-30-2009 03:22 PM

The Monte Carlo looks way better.

Buick GNX based on the new Camaro? That'd be badass. Eff this economy.

CrownR426 03-30-2009 03:35 PM

This is in the wrong section...
I must admit, this new bred of camaro is very seductive!
I was just hoping for some less baggage but those curves are banging!
If it weren't for the z, i'd be getting one.

tvfreakazoid 03-30-2009 04:54 PM

i have to agree it does look nice but to bad it's so heavy. If it were as light as the new stang then I would go for it. 426hp and light as a stang that sucker would move and probably do pretty good on the twisties.

They would also have to rename it The Corvette. :D

I've driven several Mustangs, and I was never impressed. I don't care that they are a little bit lighter than the Camaro, I don't think they will handle any better, and their light up cup holders just don't make up for an otherwise bland interior...

GO Z !

Stock for stock, the numbers have already proved the new Mustang handles the skid pad better than the new Camaro. But I think in a road course, the Camaro might have the edge merely because of the IRS...

Either way, I think some decent mods and a diet of sorts could make the new Camaro a superstar on the track...but you'd have to lose quite a bit of weight.

Robert_Nash 04-01-2009 11:55 AM

All true I think but the only way the Camaro can go on a significant diet is with lighter components which = more money.

GM doesn't have the $$$ and even if they did, the Camaro is already on the wrong end of its appropriate price point.
