Plain and simple - ignore and avoid that salesman. If he comes up to you, politely seek another's help. He'll get the message.
It's self-fulfilling: people won't want to see him, he won't sell, can't meet his numbers, and then be let go... It's a shame if there's such dirt on an otherwise nice establishment.
