Default First Z, Newbie

So, I've shopped around, gone on test drives and I've decided on the Z. I know the problems, the positives, the negatives, now it just comes down to finding the right car. I have a few months to work with, so this is not a huge concern. What I need to know about now are upgrades.

I know that on big concern with the 370z is running temperature, which is why I plan on installing an oil cooler, probably one of these:
370ZTUNE.com

Besides that I plan on installing a few cosmetic pieces, namely the Mines add on the the sport package spoiler and a Top Secret Front Diffuser, plus TE37s all around and probably some good brake lines

I plan on taking the car to the strip a few times a year and probably doing a NASA HPDE once or twice, what upgrades (bolt ons) would you all recommend for this kind of use, a bit of show and some spirited street driving?

Check the Intake/Exhaust section. Several good optons for intakes, cat back exhausts and HFCs that will get you 20-30 WHP.

have fun finding the Z you want!

I'm in the West Loop.

If you're going to the track, I'd recommend an oil cooler, track brake pads, and changing the brake fluid with racing fluid. If you don't have the sport brakes, consider a big brake kit as well. You'd have a sound track car for any HPDEs you do.

For aesthetics, I'd recommend a catback exhaust to open up the engine note and wheel spacers (the improved look is dramatic in person). Most other mods (short of coilovers or SC/TT kits) won't make you much faster and are more for personal satisfaction.

i think the first upgrade you should get is to replace your OEM door with a miata door. It should add a good 50hp+ and 600-720 lbs. off your car.

I hope you have a lot of $$$ when you are talking about Mines....

OH, and the oil cooler will void your powertrain warranty.

Your sure that an oil cooler will cause warranty issues? Seems almost counter productive.

Wow! Does Nissan have problems with cold air intakes like the Stillen Long Tube Intake?

Thanks for the advice, so, what mods can I make without voiding my warranty?

Not true. It will cause an engine failure due to oil starvation to be uncovered (or most anything else oil related save consumption). How would having an oil cooler void the warranty on your transmission, rear diff, etc etc?
