I see the new Z is out on the Nissan site today, 'Gun metallic' is the new color as we expected....and they took away the PG.

I guess too many shades of grey as we all keep saying...lol

I see a new option...
'In-mirror RearView Monitor with HomeLink® and Digital Compass' for $785.00

INFO from site:
In-mirror RearView Monitor with HomeLink® and Digital Compass
# Features a built-in monitor to help give you an improved view of what's directly behind you [1]
# Features a digital compass and HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, which opens garage doors and security gates
[1] The optional RearView Monitor is a convenience, but is not a substitute for proper backing procedures. Always turn and check that it is safe to do so before backing up. The RearView Monitor may not detect every object behind you.

ClemsonWill 10-20-2010 09:00 AM

The rear view monitor is confirmed. I want this so bad. Thanks for sharing.

rockerdan 10-20-2010 09:13 AM

Ok this is odd.....ive been waiting for the new 2011 info to come out, since i will be ordering a new Z for next spring....

I had been reading alot on this site about the backup camera, and now i see it comes in the mirror(not the nav)

so for 785 bucks you get the mirror with backup cam ect....however,when i added this to the BUILD your Z section of the site.....it tells you that it will REMOVE the NAV!

so does this mean you can only have the mirror OR the NAV but not both?....

gonna keep digging on the site to see what i can find.

EDIT: found it,you can get camera in NAV OR in mirror.

ClemsonWill 10-20-2010 09:14 AM

I didn't realize you couldn't have both. I wonder why. Let us know what you find.

rockerdan 10-20-2010 09:15 AM

Ok i got good news for those who want NAV...found this, sounds like the rearview camera comes included with NAV.

ClemsonWill 10-20-2010 09:15 AM

I just found this. It shows the rear view monitor as part of the navigation package.

Jeffblue 10-20-2010 09:18 AM

ooh exciting, i want to find out the price of getting the in NAV camera retrofitted into a 2010 i'm guessing around 500, probably a little more, since the old nav package was 1600 and the new one is 2150.

I wonder if it can be added to an existing model. I have the NAV, so I originally thought the nav screen would be back-up screen too. This hope is being dashed.

Osiris 10-20-2010 09:24 AM

So, now that this exists....how do i get my hands on the equipment to add the rear view monitor to my 2010? I already have the Nav, just want the camera added.

Mt Tam I am 10-20-2010 09:25 AM

Maybe this idea exists already, but a rear view back-up screen, over your right shoulder that would supplement your vision as opposed to complete reliance while looking forward in the wrong direction.

rockerdan 10-20-2010 09:29 AM

not sure about adding cam to older models....it might be as simple as the cam plus software to the nav???....who knows, but i bet it will not be cheap!

i see the NAV for 2011 is now $2150(up from $1850 in 2010)

other options are same price i see.....looks like sport package only went up 20 bucks($3020 now)

Im assuming the base costs have gone up,but i dont have the 2010 base cost data....the base MSRP for the car i will order is...

maybe we can put together a group buy or something through one of the supporting nissan dealers and order the part through them. should we start a thread of 2010 NAV and 2009 NAV owners who want the camera added?

UNKNOWN_370 10-20-2010 10:19 AM

pretty cool. the last mirror camera they offered didn't have homelink

ClemsonWill 10-20-2010 10:26 AM

I have seen these before but I think the OEM functionality would fit me better.

I'm in for a group buy Jeffblue!

dweedlebug 10-20-2010 10:26 AM

It looks like the mirror/camara can be added to the Base as a stand-alone option.

Or it comes with the Nav package.

djpathfinder 10-20-2010 10:28 AM

It looks like the new gun metallic colour is more like the PG that they took out than the 40th quartz.

Good idea on a new thread about back up cameras for 2009-10s.

joseZhartford 10-20-2010 10:31 AM

did u guys notice they didnt discontinue the blackcherry color? i tot the gun metalic was gonna replace it just like blackcherry replaced yellow ..

yeah this sorta threw me too.....i thought for sure BC was gonna be gone for 2011.

i really wish they had more "pop" colors....all shades of grey except Blue and red.

OldGuy 10-20-2010 10:50 AM

Glad to see the car is the same as my '09. Why change a good thing...

They must be keeping it around as the 'special' color for the year, maybe they got plenty of interest and people still want to buy it?
I was waiting for news of them to announce a new special color, hoping for orange, but I guess keeping BC is cheaper and might make some people happy.

toxik 10-20-2010 11:02 AM

So Gun Metallic replaced PG? I don't see PG on the nissan site anymore... and gun metallic looks just like it, not as dark as the GTR GM color. Probably just changed the name lol.

I'm wondering if they simply didn't update their tool tip.

But if it's true, then that means my color isn't rare and I wasted 500 buck.

Oh well, it's still baller.

I think the new Gun Metallic is the same color code as the GT-R so it might just be the did not update the website yet, and are using the PG image temporarily.

Jeffblue 10-20-2010 11:16 AM

i posted a thread to gauge interest and possibly arrange a group buy on a 2011 camera for the 2010 and 2009. check it out if you're interested

I been wanting orange as well, i almost bought bc last week but i want an outlandish color. I think im gonna just say f*#k it n go with MBlue. 350z owners are lucky in the color dept.

LuckyJinx 10-20-2010 01:03 PM

So instead of turning your head around you just look up? And you could do that for $785? Good deal.

Jeffblue 10-20-2010 02:20 PM

i want it for the front of my nismo. the low lip scares me!

370fan 10-20-2010 02:42 PM

I heard that the rearview camera can now be added as a dealer installed option on any year 370Z.

That's not correct. If you get the navi, the backup camera comes with it and uses the navi screen. If you don't buy navi, you can still get the backup cam using the rearview mirror. I have an aftermarket camera working in my navi and I love it. My wife's Toyota Tacoma came with the homelink, mirror version. It's not bad and a reasonable choice if you aren't going to order the navi.

Eric 10-20-2010 03:44 PM

Has anyone notice the red start button in the 2011's?

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20...Z/interior.jpg

Jeffblue 10-20-2010 03:47 PM

i think thats just an illuminated amber light. notice how all of the amber lights (guages etc) are a very deep red in the picture.

I think JeffBlue is right. Everything seems to be super red in this pic too.

Edit: I'm looking at the 2010 370z brochure right now. The pic I posted is the exact same image from the 2010 brochure but the gauges and start button have been tweaked to be more red. Tricky Nissan. :)
